I think I can reasonably say that one of the most important films in my life is Ghostbusters, I’ve literally seen it well over a hundred times, I’ve actually watched it more than once in a day several times (not so much these days as I struggle to find the time to watch anything) and I have quite a working knowledge of the movie and lore surrounding it.

So you can imagine my excitement as a child to hear that there would be a Ghostbusters cartoon series and a toy line. …

“For those two readers who have never seen Ghostbusters: drive to your nearest mall and buy it. Now. Drive in the left lane if it’s quicker. And don’t worry about fatalities, the cops will understand. They’ve seen Ghostbusters.”

I’ve fallen sick again, hopefully not as bad as before but it still rates fairly high on my pissed-off-about-it-meter. So it may be a little slow for the next couple of days, then again maybe it won’t be, I can’t say and I’m too high on fever to think straight.

I’m also working on something awesome.

It’s actually taking shape.

I’ll preview something in the coming days.

Man that quote from Cracked.com is so perfect I wish I wrote it.  I did have some thoughts similar to theirs about the validity of the EPA concerns over the Ghostbusters waste management plan, I’ll write that up when I feel a little better.

Also I’m still growing the Magnum PI Mo, right now it is at Tony Stark early 90s which is kind of cool except it sucks having the flu with a moustache.  You know what would make me feel better?  Go to my Movember page and throw me a couple of bucks if you haven’t already, it’s for an awesome cause.

Spike: Who you gonna call?
[Buffy looks askance at him.]
Spike: God, that phrase is never gonna be usable again, is it?
Buffy: Doubt it.

Well it should generally not come as any great surprise that Ghostbusters is indeed my favourite film of all time. I’ve seen it more times than can be counted (seriously people I’ve had this thing on three times a day in the background on occasion), I can recite the lines 10 seconds prior (this is annoying, ask Tracey), I know all of the songs off of the soundtrack, I know where the Stay Puft references appear prior to his appearance, establishing him as a brand in the Ghostbuster universe, I know all the names of the equipment and I know what scene they cut out of the Australian 80s television cut for no reason I can imagine apart from running time*.

I just love this film, I grew up on this film, this film makes me want to see New York in person.

It’s a film I can talk about for hours but as I write this I can barely conjure up the sheer bloody awesomeness of this film.

God I hope they don’t screw up the third film.

I leave you with this**:

* in case anyone was wondering the scene cut out was when Spengler pokes at a guest in the shoulder during the hotel sequence.
** can you pick which line in the trailer is not used in the actual movie?
