For some reason or the other I thought that Quit Your Day Job had been running for four years but apparently it is three. Which is still awesome and a decent chunk of my life that I’ve been chronicling here.
I also think this is the first time I’ve managed to hit on the actual anniversary day (I set it in Outlook to remind me this year, all month it has been blinking blog anniversary). Although like every other year so far I …

I am a big fan of Kick Ass and had a great time when I saw it at the movies, now it’s coming out on DVD and Blu-ray here in Australia on August 19th and thanks to Universal we’re giving away 5 copies of the movie!
Not only that though but one lucky entry is going to win this John Romita Jr image printed on an A1 canvas:
So what do you need to do to go into the running for these Kick Ass prizes (honestly I couldn’t resist)?
Well first off it is only open to Australians (Sorry! I know! But it’s cool because I’ve got an international competition coming up soon)
How to enter:
Via Twitter:
Just tweet the message “I just entered the #KickAss give away on @leesargent’s blog! http://bit.ly/bpN9aO” (click the link for it to do it for you!)
Via Facebook:
Click on the Like button below and leave a message on the Facebook page for Quit Your Day Job:
UPDATE: the original like button didn’t quite work out so sorry to those who already clicked it – please just resubmit!
You can enter once through Twitter and once through Facebook.
We’ll pick five people at random from the Facebook and Twitter likes and tweets on August 16th and the prizes (you nominate your format) will be sent out after August 19th when the movie is released.
Wow it’s been so busy this week!! It’s not bad busy so much but I am conscious that there are limited hours in the day and I don’t think this pace can continue without something suffering.
So it’ll be exciting to see what ‘that’ winds up being
Of course the week was made a little easier, at least here in blog land by a couple of excellent guest posts that generated some really cool discussions which is always the sign of awesome. Sujoy and Suzie wrote about Doctor Who and Red Dwarf thus declaring last week British science fiction week, so next week will we be talking about Blake’s 7?
Over on Suzie’s blog she is celebrating her one year anniversary for the site which is a great milestone considering that most blogs die within the first month. Whilst on his blog SG-3 has picked up the blog writing tools after a break to discuss his disappointment with the big screen adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are.
Sujoy also reviewed the first episode of the new Doctor Who which if you liked his take on The Beast Below you should check out his look at The Eleventh Hour.
Over on Mashing Buttons I’ve been taking a quick look at God of War III and Greg has been pondering the role of family in the horror game series of Bioshock. Greg has also found the time to illustrate how his musical tastes are of an excellent nature.
Matt and I have been working very hard to put together a couple of blog posts about the appalling situation regarding the lack of an R18+ rating for Australia. I’m letting the side down unfortunately as I just haven’t had the chance to piece together some coherent thoughts.
Over on his blog though he has been talking about the end of Ugly Betty which is a show I started watching in the beginning and drifted away.
Dan has been gathering requests for Big Trouble in Little China on Twitter for the Midnight Movie Club whilst last week I handled the podcast on my own (with a little help from Matt). This weeks is an absolute joy because we rang Arjan out of the blue and I didn’t watch the movie so we wound up chatting about stuff and taking requests from Twitter. Dan had some thoughts about Doctor Who which I don’t think I’ve linked to yet either.
Arjan has also been continuing on the Saturday music video tradition despite my own slackness.
I’ve been publishing on and off at my new social media blog Social Matters (at least go look at the ninja, robot, viking and pirate pics) and I’ve been working on my portfolio.
Can’t wait to see what this week brings!!!
