OK.

So this isn’t exactly the blog you all know and love.

I know, I know.

If you are reading this via the feedreader then maybe you haven’t noticed anything at all.  Well let me fill you in because to quote Starship Troopers (oh yes, THAT’s where we’re at) “Someone made a mistake, someone made a big goddamn mistake.”

Well actually that’s a little more melodramatic than the situation currently is at but it isn’t too far off.

You see I got sick of Quit Your Day Job getting hijacked by malware sites through Google Reader and the site has always run a bit slow on its host so I decided that it was time to move to a new faster hosting service.

Sure.  Just export your content and transfer over.

Well that would have been fine and dandy except the database is bloody huge!  And the export function was only exporting up until February and by the time I realised what had happened the transfer of domain had completed and WordPress is really hard to deal with when the URL isn’t working (no way to log into admin).

So I downloaded the database and it is really big, impractically big to deal with and so it is going to take me a while to upload all the old posts, that’s if I’m able to without wrecking this install.

I know that there is a lot of history in there and I’d be really upset if I lost it, but then we can’t cry over spilled milk can we?

So we’re going to soldier along, and look, we’ve already had two pop culture references already, it’ll be the same place you remember in no time!
