For some reason I really loved the character Kite from the Goodies and Baddies card set.

Mystic NinjaI will admit that Mystic Ninja was actually one of my least favourite of the characters that I created for the Goodies and Baddies card set.  I don’t know what it was, I probably just couldn’t put a back story to the character (they were all created specifically without back stories so people could personally work them out for themselves).  Quite a few people commented to me that he was their favourite so I didn’t feel so bad about him after all.  But since I am writing a graphic novel at the moment featuring these characters I had to flesh them out in my own mind.

I finally worked out Mystic Ninja.

Essentially he is a ninja that became so expert in the physical arts of ninja that he eventually transcended into the magical realms.  Literally the fight is over with him before it begins.

His elevation to this godlike existence has however detached him from our plane of existence and he is only tethered here by his natural form.

I wanted him to feel a little more badass so I threw together a thought piece – I’m assuming that skull was someone who just engaged him in combat:

I wanted to let you all know if I’m scarce on here over the coming weeks it’s because I’m currently working on some stuff with the Goodies and Baddies characters and not because I’m just starting to feel the ragged edges of social media burn out… (well maybe some of the burn out has been creeping in as well, but I’ll write about this at a later date lol).

I’ve started to move away from producing licensed characters in my work and really developing some of my own original characters into whatever I’m doing.  I expect another trading card set and I’ve got a script plotted out for a short one off piece involving the K-1000 and Globular.

This is a quick concept scribble that I did for the K-1000 whilst sitting in front of the television:

Not that I think this will work it’s way into any of the pieces I’m working on but I just want to work out some details on his armour and generally get used to drawing him again.
