… we last talked about this but I freed up a little time and am ready to tackle the awesome’st garage part two. For those of you who are new this was the ultimate awesome garage part one:
And since there was so much discussion about other cars that could have been in there I thought I would open up the sequel to you guys to decide.
Now I did leave out the spaceships, I will draw them at some stage or the other but for now they would be too hard to add to our garage and stay in …

A while ago I did the illustration above, the most awesome garage in the world. I stand by my choices in this piece, these are the three cars I would most love to have sitting in my backyard and I’m pretty awesome so I know this stuff.
Of course some of you felt that there weren’t enough bays in our awesome garage (one of you also made a groan worthy joke about the garage itself being fairly ordinary but the cars being awesome…). So I’m going back into the pop culture auto industry and letting you guys nominate and ultimately vote on the next three cars to go into the awesome’st garage part two.
Now I’ve got some suggestions of my own to get you rolling:
- The Gadget Mobile (car mode)
- Any vehicle from MASK
- The 60′s Batmobile
- The Galileo shuttle craft from Star Trek (whatever, it would fit in a garage)
- The A-Team van
- The Star Car from The Last Starfighter
- Light bike from Tron
- KITT (though it would be boring to draw… shut up, don’t judge me)
Well that should have gotten you thinking and since I know you guys are all very clever and knowledgeable in the art of popular culture I expect some out of left field suggestions in the comments. I would also love to see some new names in the comments, time to come out of the shadows and be embraced by the Quit Your Day Job community!
When I’ve got a healthy list I’ll cross off any I don’t think I’ll be able to draw (fair go) and then offer the rest up for you to vote for in a poll!
Be a part of awesomeness, tell your readers and friends and that shady guy down the street who smells like wet carpet… actually don’t bother telling him.
Now speaking of awesomeness I had two awesome ideas today that made a little bit of stardust seep out of my left ear out of sheer bloody amazingness. The rough pencil thumb guide is up at my Posterous site for the first idea and the second will take a little bit of time but involves two characters from the Goodies and Baddies set.

It’s going to be cool.
Get in on the ground floor, share the coolness with others.
Proclaim your commitment to the cool.
Arnold was cool, why don’t you want to be?

So the votes are finally in and tallied. We have the three pop culture vehicles that will be featured in the follow up to the most awesome garage in the world illustration.
- The van from The A-Team
- The Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo
- KITT from Knight Rider
I was not so secretly hoping that the Light Bike from Tron would get a look in but it wasn’t meant to be and I am of course completely impartial for this particular piece. Because of the types of vehicles chosen I have to rethink the layout because it won’t work the same as the first one. I’ve got some good ideas though.
I expect to get the piece done sometime in the next three weeks, I’ve got a couple of weeks off work and I’ve got two other main projects on at the moment in addition to the Midnight Movie Club, Abe Decker and of course Quit Your Day Job.
The first one feels similar to “awesome garage” in that it deals with pop culture nostalgia and I expect it to show up as a limited edition print over on my Etsy store:
The other that I’ve been engaged for is a two part series titled kitchen ninja and below is the essentially drawn on a cocktail napkin thumb sketch for one half:
So what projects have you guys got up your sleeves for the Christmas break?
