… work over the years but I like this one the most.

Special note: I also LOVE the work of Drew Struzan who for some reason just doesn’t have a poster on here but really needs to get a special mention as his posters are very awesome.

So what are your favourite posters of all time?

I’ve been buying a few DC comics titles over the last couple of months which is unusual for me as I grew up a DC guy then crossed over to Marvel (although I’ve always been an Iron Man fan).  So when I look over the comics I intend on picking up tomorrow I’m surprised that once again DC features at least equally with Marvel.

Batgirl #1

batgirl 1

I’ve always had a soft spot for Batgirl, ever since Babara Gordon (who was Batgirl) was crippled by the Joker.  For a while there any reference to Batgirl was a reminder that bad things happen in the Batman universe and they stay happened although Jason Todd being brought back to life kind of tarnished that (I try not to think about it to be honest).

I’m hoping whoever actually turns out being Batgirl has a close relationship with Barbara, who is still fantastic as Oracle but I want to see her as more of a mentor (I missed a lot of Birds of Prey so maybe this already happened).  I’m breaking my rule here and starting a new ‘monthly’ book rather than waiting on the trade paperback.

It doesn’t hurt that the cover looks pretty special too.

Deadpool: Suicide Kings #5

deadpoolsuicidekings5Again with the rule breaking, I just know that next week the five issues of Deadpool Suicide Kings is going to show up in hardcover and will work out cheaper than buying all five issues of the mini-series.  Happy to be proven wrong.

A year or so ago I didn’t know shit about Deadpool but over the past twelve months I’ve really become hooked on the character and his often ridiculous situations and laugh out loud dialogue.  The art in Suicide Kings has also been top notch and is what sucked me in to pick up the reprints of the first three.

I noticed that Deadpool is appearing in a few series lately, he might want to watch himself lest he become Wolverine and appear in pretty much every comic in the Marvel house (I’m surprised Wolverine didn’t show up as the Lion in the Wizard of Oz series).

Wow, those are the only two locks I have this week.  I’m also considering the Batman Streets of Gotham #3 but only because the cover art (which we’ve discussed before) is so damn nice.  I expect though that sanity will prevail and I will wait until the trade paperback on those ones.

Apart from that I might try a bit of pot luck and see what graphic novels they have in stock.

What books are you picking up this week?  And how sweet is that Streets of Gotham cover!?

The cover of Running Blind - I don't know what they're running from but it seems tense

I saw this in a second hand shop over the weekend and I just love the illustration on the cover.  It captures motion and tension really well and is surprisingly detailed.  I only just noticed the jeep in the corner!

I have no idea what the book is about or even who drew the cover but I like it and I thought I’d share since I’ve been a little scarce around here lately (hey it’s better than the junk mail post I was about to write!!).

What do you guys think?  If anyone has actually read it I’d be interested in the plot (now I wish I’d forked over the $2).
