All things going to plan we should be sitting in the 10:30pm showing of Black Dynamite as this post is published. I think this is the film I’m most looking forward to behind Moon in the festival:
This shit looks tight!

Tracey and I locked in our tickets for this year’s Brisbane International Film Festival, we had to sacrifice a couple of films that we wanted to see but overall I’m pretty happy with our agenda:
- The September Issue – Tue 4 Aug 2009 | 07:15 pm
- Moon – Thu 6 Aug 2009 | 09:50 pm
- The Lovers – Fri 7 Aug 2009 | 05:00 pm
- Mademoiselle – Sat 8 Aug 2009 | 02:00 pm
- Black Dynamite – Fri 31 Jul 2009 | 10:30 pm
- The Missing Person – Fri 31 Jul 2009 | 06:15 pm
It’s an interesting mix of films I think and I’m really looking forward to Moon and Black Dynamite!
I have an eclectic taste in movies, I certainly have my preferences that I lean towards but I’ll watch a range of films and really enjoy them. So it never really surprised me when I see a trailer and I think to myself despite the lack of ray guns and robots I wouldn’t mind seeing that. There are actors too who I’ll see in a trailer, I’ll groan, then think “you know what? I wouldn’t mind seeing that”, then I hate myself a little.
This is one of those times and I hate myself doubly because it was two trailers.
So the first problem I have is Ashton Kutcher. I used to think he was quite watchable but then I just had my fill or something because then I just got sick of hearing his name. Of course right now I’m having trouble thinking of the last film he was even in so maybe I’m being a little unfair. But it’s nice to see Tom Selleck and the mo back on the big screen and I think that this film could be quite funny especially if Katherine Heigl’s delivery is as good as it is in this trailer.
So no maybe I’m not hating myself too much on that film, but this film…
I’m sure that no one needs me to point to the potential drawback in this film, but damn it all to hell if I wouldn’t mind seeing this. Do I care what Tom Cruise does in his private life? Not really. Do I think he can be a good actor? Yes. Do I think this film might be a fun popcorn film? Certainly. Am I going to stop asking myself questions and then proceeding to answer them immediately? For now.
I also hate Burbanked Movie Blog for bringing both of these movies to my attention, okay, so I don’t hate them but they did draw attention to the films both of which I hadn’t heard of (in fairness they are much harsher than I in their critique).
Fine, there’s very little hate going on now.
Pfft.
Whatever.
