As part of my lunchtime scribbles I struck on the idea of the alien from the Alien franchise riding a tricycle. Of course I took this idea further and suggested that the Alien had stolen the tricycle from its mortal enemy the Predator.
As is often the case this idea started to unravel into the ludicrous and it was suggested that the Predator would be chasing the Alien on a pogo-stick (his only remaining transportation I suppose).
This is the final piece in a recent commission piece request.
Now whilst I could completely picture a concept for Batman in the bathtub, the companion piece featuring Superman wasn’t so easy to work out. The only thing I kind of knew was that it would be in the Donner Superman: The Movie style Fortress of Solitude but the bath itself would be a standard one.
It wasn’t until I started sketching it out that I knew he’d be reading the paper and his glasses were a last minute addition. The Bat-ducky was always going to appear as well although there was some thoughts regarding an Aquaman scuba steve style doll but it just didn’t work without colour.
One of the other concepts I had included Superman heating the water with his heat ray but again this proved to be a little harder to establish well.
One of the more unusual requests that I’ve gotten, the idea of Batman in the bath with bubbles and an unhappy look on his face was one that I immediately pictured in my head. I’m fortunate enough that the person who commissioned this piece has given permission for me to blog about it early. There are two other pieces that I’ll post in the coming days.
If you’d like your own commissioned piece I’ve updated the shop!
