Remember, he’s better than you and I

October 2nd, 2008

I got the heads up over at slashfilm that Michael Bay is using Twitter and is writing some pretty funny stuff.  I used to be an apologist for Mr Bay (remember I like Armageddon, Con Air and The Rock) but then Transformers which I still refuse to discuss here… (you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry) came along and ruined my childhood memories.

But Michael does have a unique appeal, here are some samples:

I want to welcome all the new people who are following my updates and remind everyone that I am better than you in every possible way.

Didn’t finish my latte, because I put it in a bullhorn and hurled it at a runner. That works better than coffee anyway.

Ok, long day. I’m going to sleep well tonight. On a mattress made of money. Literally.

Shia is crying less today.

Shia cried more today. Especially compared to yesterday.

Took a meeting about Armageddon 2: Armageddoner. It’s a Go.

You can check out Michael Bay’s feed at http://twitter.com/michael_bay

You can check my feed out for a lot less laughs at http://twitter.com/leesargent

PS I know that’s not really Bay - but he’s bloody uncanny!

Have a cup of coffee and a catch up

September 5th, 2008

Well it’s been a busy week in the camp this week, applied for three different jobs, I’m focusing on Government jobs because thats what I’ve done for the past fifteen months or so.  Government jobs mean bloody selection criteria, selection criteria leads to frustration, frustration leads to anger, anger leads to hate and everyone knows where hate leads to.

That image really cracks me up, no one considers the nameless Storm Trooper’s hopes and aspirations.  I was talking about selection criteria though and unfortunately that has been sucking up my time.  I have been posting over at my posterous site though generally everyday, had to suplement old stuff in with the new stuff:

I’m really happy with the Iron Man pencils and I’m going to add ink to them after I finish my hot cup of java and chatting to you.  The Robin drawing is my background for Twitter too.

Speaking of Twitter, I had a major culling of people I follow on there.  I got sick of seeing conversations that I wanted to contribute to and then being ignored so I just got rid of them.  I also noticed that there were such a huge number of ‘how to blog’ people on there that I was following and frankly there is only a certain number of ‘make movey writing good titles’ posts I can read before I wonder about these people who blog about blogging about blogging.

I am of course not infallible so if I dropped you from my list I apologise and if you send me a message I’ll add you back straight away, anyone who comments in here will get added automatically generally too.  I do also want to send a big word up to janetwheeler, kathleenjoy (permission required to view) and gamerbabe360 who always converse with me despite neither reading this blog to my knowledge.  They are good salt of the twitter earth people.

I had to set aside the speed reading book, though I have increased my speed by about 75 words per minute, job applications come first unfortunately but I’ll try and finish the activities by the end of the weekend.

I have been playing World in Conflict though whenever I get the chance, picked the game up for $8 at K-Mart!!!  It is brilliant, fun and challenging, if you like RTS then I highly recommend it!

Still reading Saga of the Seven Suns book one - it is really really good.  So much detail and so many characters.  No I will not be going over to fantasy books though, it’s as close as I get (which isn’t that close!).  Trying to track down a copy of City of Ember but Australia doesn’t seem to stock it so it is off to the import shops.

Started watching the new 90210 series, I can easily get hooked on this, I’ll write about it when I finish the two part opening episode, found myself grinning though when the ‘revamped’ 90210 theme played over the credits.

Upgraded Wordpress to the latest version, had to go through and remove all the weird generated characters.

Also have officially made Chrome my default browser.

Well that’s about it for me, finished the coffee, I hate instant coffee but it went down alright, how was yours?

Twittering first episode of Charlie Jade

August 24th, 2008

Well with the news that SGA is abandoning me at the end of the season I figured I might branch out into some other scifi series that I’m aware of.

First one was Charlie Jade that whilst I know only goes 20 episodes has just been released here in Australia on DVD.

I decided after visiting cousin Larry to check out the first episode and also thought why not clog up twitter with my random thoughts throughout… everyone at Twitter was very appreciative I’m sure.   Here is the transcript for the non-twitterers to enjoy also:

  • about to settle in and watch Charlie Jade - I kind of hope that it isn’t very good because I’ll have to track down the rest of the series
  • damn vexcorp corporation hiding parallel universes from us
  • I love whatever place they filmed the opening sequences
  • They just got a watermelon, from an alternate universe I suspect… cool, imagine the impact on your local fruit market
  • I’ve got to say that the production quality is quite good, bit of an explanation of the universe we’re in - some south african accents too
  • hey! the ghost train from GB2 just showed up
  • I like the soundtrack over the opening credits.
  • Mmmmmm bit of a Blade Runner’ish feel to it.
  • $32.50 for a bloody coffee?!?! Starbucks has gone nuts in the Charlie Jade universe.
  • No one wants to go to Brock Harbour…
  • Dude works for himself rather than working for the man - sweet. He is however being stared at by a ladybeetle with a camera in its back..?
  • Damn, nice big gun, plus he has different jackets for each occasion, hope he got a bulk discount from Myer
  • Righto he just found a cupboard full of severed arms, and then the cupboard fell on him and a one armed man ran off - connected??
  • Charlie has an attractive girlfriend and shares in Microsoft.. I mean Vexcorp… I’m betting everything is going to go to shit for him
  • Someone left a girl on Charlie’s front door step, kittens are easier to feed and find new homes for
  • Apparently in the Charlie Jade universe the police don’t deal with date rape cases they palm them off to PI’s like Charlie
  • Ah hah the girl is from our universe and has crossed over into theirs somehow
  • Break for chocolate ice cream - in case I’ve confused everyone I’m twittering my first viewing of Charlie Jade..
  • also breaking because my cforms2 update didn’t work properly and now I’m fixing it
  • oh wow Charlie and his girlfriend are really really happy and have sushi - I’m giving it ten minutes or so
  • somehow they are sending water through the dimensional portal without pipes and stuff?
  • the gammaverse is concerned about the environment - they have a pretty beach and don’t want it wreaked
  • Charlie’s girlfriend doesn’t want to go on holidays? Weird.
  • The girl who was on his doorstep has shown up dead and the police are giving him a guilt trip - also the cop has a funny name
  • I’m not really sure why the police didn’t help the girl in the first place - all very mysterious no ID chip in her…
  • @kristarella no it never auto updates for me either - what’s Wufoo?
  • OK now Charlie is tracking down the pretty boy son of Vexcorp boss - this is going to end in tears
  • Weird scene in the gammaverse (?) where the environmentally concerned couple hold some container over the top of their brand new car..?
  • Charlie is now in some weird fluorescent lit bar where beer is expensive and warm and I think he’s going to get into a fight
  • and we have another jacket!!!
  • OK just to clarify Charlie lives in Alphaverse
  • Apparently in Alphaverse you can park your car in the middle of the road while chasing helicoptors
  • helicopters
  • oooooooohhh enviro couple in g-uni are terrorists/patriots
  • Now I’ve got three alternate universes converging
  • Ok kid stop poking the dude with a stick - Charlie has woken up in the desert after the eco couple blew up the place
  • Well ok he hasn’t woken up - he’s getting poked with a stick
  • yup ok I could watch more of this show - 19 episodes to track down :)

Some of that makes more sense if you happen to be watching the first episode too.   Random parts however will never make sense so don’t even bother.   I’m assuming I should lose about five followers out of this.

Check out the teaser to get idea of the show I’m talking about:

Jaiku vs Twitter

June 9th, 2008

With thanks to Mr Mike Bogle I’m one of the proud “beta” users of Jaiku (you needs you an invite to become a user at this stage).   I like it, it has a couple of features on it that Twitter doesn’t at this stage and they are some attractive features especially the comment feature.

When you reply a bit in Twitter it starts to become a little confusing and if you miss a reply and try to answer later on it is out of context.   In fact earlier tonight I responded to LeighI about a Tweet I did the other day about my laptop bag being really heavy.   My comment now has no real context and I only hope she sees it and knows what I’m talking about!

There is another problem though with Jaiku and it has nothing to do with the system, I don’t know anyone on there!!   It’s easier to find similiar minded people on there because it has a bunch of communities etc but I feel weird just following strangers!

So it feels like I’m screaming out at the dark (except for mbogle of course).

If anyone reading this is also using Jaiku please add me!!

Twitter and bits

June 4th, 2008

I don’t use Twitter half as much as I would like to, actually that’s not 100% true, often I’m a Twitter lurker and I just eavesdrop on what others are saying.   I wonder if there is a term for that?   I’m pretty tired and it’s late so I’ll leave that to everyone else to work out!

I like the service, I think it’s clever and really only people who don’t use it think that it’s a stupid “I’m eating lunch” “now I’m finished” service (not that it doesn’t have those types of entries - heck even I’ve done that).

Someone on the Aussie Bloggers Forum once said that they liked it because they work from home (which can be really isolating) and it gives the effect of virtual office background chatter.

And they’re right, I used to have a soundtrack website that I would run in the background and read the conversations running.

So anyway I’m going to try using it more, I’ve just (not twenty minutes ago) started using mobile phone updates via sms which are pretty cool.   So check out my twitter feed or see it on the sidebar!

Oh yeah I’m the guest poster over at All that comes with it (Dan’s blog) so pop over there and read my thoughts on ‘The Net’.   Leave a comment telling Dan you were there as I’ve a feeling it’s his least popular one so far and I feel bad for him because that’s my fault.

If you’ve commented in the last couple of days and I haven’t responded please don’t worry I will respond as soon as I get a chance!!
