Practising your craft…
July 7th, 2008
A long time ago I announced that I was embarking on a personal project that has been in the works since when I was quite young. Â Starting my own indie comic publishing house. Â I got the name and the site but I’ve had no real progress in developing the actual product.
A bunch of reasons for this unfortunately and hopefully in the coming month or so one of the big obstacles will get itself resolved. Â This week I should be completing the first script for my first standalone (I had another that hasn’t panned out for a bunch of reasons).
In the meantime I wanted to highlight some of the others amongst our little online community who are themselves practising their crafts and should be supported for it:
- Rol Hirst has produced the first issue of his comic book PJANG (People just ain’t no good) which I will be purchasing as soon as I have the £1.75 (which is all it costs you including p&p) in my Paypal account.  Go check it out and support someone doing their thing!
- Becca and John have also produced a comic book, The Super Hip Kick Ass, But in a Totally, Like, Non-Violent Way Yeah? Super Power Girl Gang! which is available via Becca at her site (she’s also got other art, t-shirts and a colouring book).
- MC over a Culture Kills was also selling t-shirts but I don’t know if he currently is, but he was and if you go and subscribe to his site he may mention them again! Â ***Update: you can take a look at the shirts over at Pop Culture Sugar
- Karen is living the dream and producing her own book, a children’s book called Surprise!, so if you have children you could do a lot worse than sharing this book with them.
It’s so great seeing all these people practicing their craft and I hope you all visit their sites and support them. Â Someone else who is doing something worthwhile is our man Dan, he is planning a charity walk for the Joseph Salmon Trust. Â It’s a nice thing to do, he’s a nice guy, I will donate once my Paypal has stuff apart from moths in it.
