Polaroid heroics: Like a flash

December 29th, 2007

I’m working on a new series of pieces that are based around Polaroid photos taken of super heroes by casual bystanders.

The very first is titled Like a flash:

Like a flash - Lee Sargent 2007 Pencils and Adobe Fireworks

It was in France that I managed to get the photo of him, he only stopped for the briefest of seconds, I was certain he was standing still when I took the photo.

I’m still playing with the Polaroid format but I’ve done the image in a way that I can transfer it to another frame easily enough.  Tell me what you all think.  I’ve already sketched out the next one.

I think polaroid is still an interesting medium Kim - there’s something nice about the way they appear instantly and are in those little frames.

Cheers Becca - the background is actually a separate drawing of an actual French apartment block.

That looks unreal! I’d like to see some “from the barricade” shots (shoulders with S.H.I.E.L.D emblems and gun tips in the forground and a hard-to-make-out battle in the background).

    Want some more suggestions?

Ian - *huge grin* I so had that in mind you know! I was picturing actually Iron Man holding his hand up to the crowd behind a police line taken as if behind several people. There’s something about the suit that exudes a level of authority automatically. I was actually thinking of even going back to the original Mark 3 armor. I’m not as big a fan of the latest one.

For now hold off on the ideas because I’ve got a line up of them in my head and will call upon you when I’ve exhausted them.

Hey hope you had a great xmas by the way are you back at work already?

Yeah, I only had a week off so I’m back at work now :-(. My wife bought me season 3 of Doctor Who, but I haven’t been able to watch any of it yet.

I should have taken another week off.

Veda - the Batman one is sketched out roughly and is pretty cool (I hope) and what you would expect from Batman - I’ve got an idea for another which may just be a poster.

Oh I’ve got to tell you!! I got Batman shoes for xmas!!! Will post pictures.
