OMG First photo from new Harry Potter film

December 18th, 2007

Harry Potter looking very slightly newI was going to warn against spoilers for the new film but as you can clearly see from the ‘first photo’ released by Warner Bros from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Warner Bros certainly haven’t stretched themselves with a tantalizing glimpse at something new.

In fact I’m pretty certain that he was wearing that t-shirt in the last film so they haven’t even revealed a new look. Not that he would have a new look of course as I know myself that I continue to wear the same clothes into the next year so continuity should be applauded!

I generally flick through the ‘new photos’ from any upcoming Harry Potter film with a very slight passing interest but this photo just made me want to laugh. It is probably a good idea I suppose given that the films already have an established audience and they don’t need to whip up the fan flames but I do object to anyone using an exclamation mark when referring to the first picture.

First photo from Harry Potter film!

Should actually read:

First photo from Harry Potter film.

And putting an OMG at the beginning of such a sentence is simply dishonest (I apologize of course I was illustrating a point). If you were to compare what I believe to be the first photo from the previous film and this one I have to wonder if the same people have decided what the first image to be released would be.

Which film is this one from

This one at least has some sort of action happening and when you compare the two they actually appear to be from the same film furthering the point that the ‘new’ photo is pretty weak.

But hey, if you are a rabid Potter fan then you probably don’t care one little bit and are happy to have anything!!!

That second photo is quite interesting in that it looks like it is taking place in some dirty urban environment.

Gritty realism hasn’t been the theme of many of the films up until this point (mind you I’ve only seen the first one so I am speaking from a platform of ignorance)

I guess the upside of the fact that Harry’s guardians hate him so much is that the producers don’t have to spring for a lot of new casual wardrobe for him.

Arjan - yeah I’m semi certain I haven’t seen the Goblet of Fire so I might have to check that out too - I highly recommend the last book though!

Dan - the films have been getting grittier and darker with each one and that scene IS actually a dirty urban environment near where he lives when not at Hogwarts.
