What am I wearing

December 14th, 2007

It’s Friday night, we’ve just exhausted our last episode of 30 Rock and have 25 minutes at least until the next one magically appears inside my computer thanks to cousin Larry so I thought I might do one of those random ideas for a post thingies out of my blogging book.  No one tends to visit the blog over the weekend and so I generally don’t post ‘good stuff’ such as the top ten spaceships type blogs because people won’t see it until Monday night (my time).

So what am I wearing this evening.

You can’t see it but he has a cobra on his back maybeWell first off we have a white t-shirt with a giant picture of a cobra and the words Royal King Cobras Martial Arts around it.  I got the shirt whilst in Melbourne mainly because I wanted a fairly light undershirt which it really isn’t and secondly because the design reminded me of the Cobra guys from The Karate Kid.

Is The Karate Kid now a film that has passed by a generation?  Are there people (younger people) reading this blog thinking what the hell is he talking about?  Karate Kid? Oh yeah that wax on wax off guy… no I haven’t seen it.

Now I’m feeling old.

Anyway over the top of that I’m wearing a green kind of checked-cowboy-like shirt that appears to be all the rage right now (do people even say all the rage any more…? old old old) with the sleves rolled up and held by a little button up thing.

I’m wearing classic ripped up jeans, that are too funky to wear during normal working hours and are only allowed out on Fridays, weekends and night time activities.  They are also my most comfortable jeans and they have a button up fly which I prefer.

No shoes.

I’m also sporting a beard right now, it’s at the itchy-starting-to-thicken stage and it’s more a result of not being bothered to shave in this heat rather than a Men in Trees chic thing.   Mmmm that being said maybe we can watch an episode of that whilst we wait for 30 Rock.

Have a good weekend guys!

wax on..wax off…watched faaaaaaaaar too often.
I still need to get some more jeans..I think I got like..2 or 3 decent ones.

The beard (like in the pic) looks cool. Keep it. I’ve been sporting a beard since july, and some love it, some hate it. I like it, so I’m keeping it for now.
This one helps mee keep it short instead of Santa style

I used to always know when Karate kid had been on TV because kids at school would all call me Daniel-san the day after.

I grew to hate that movie.

Arjan - dude that is one mean looking beard trimming kits!!! Yeah I’ve got about six or something pairs of jeans all technically according to the label the same size but they all differ and have various degrees of actual comfort and looking good.

The beard at this stage is an all over Santa effect which I don’t think looks that good on me anyway but I’m just over the whole shaving thing. I think I have to get an electric razor.

Dan - I had a friend who worked at the casino and his name was Luke.

    He hated Star Wars.

    Nuff said.

I know and the trimmerkit only cost 45€.
As for shaving ..always been a machine man.
My dad only trims now and then..so no education there ;)

btw..I tried to shower in 4 minutes..that’s darn short. Especially if you want to wait till the water is hot. But there’s a major difference in the ‘water-output’ of the shower at my own home (more water there) and that at my parent’s place.

The Karate Kid saved my life - perhaps literally.

About twenty years ago, I was on a cross-channel ferry from Dublin to Holyhead (Wales) when we were informed that the weather was going to turn bad. There had been a hurricane off the south coast and the tail end of it was in our path.

I headed for the ship’s cinema which, being in the centre of the vessel, was likely to rock the least. It was showing the first two Karate Kid movies. The audience consisted of a handful of adults and a troop of cub scouts. Every face was green, and one by one, the sea got them all. All but me and the projectionist. I was never so happy to get back to land.

    Thank you Mr. Miyagi…

Arjan - That’s pretty sweet - I’ve got my eye on a three in one system that does the shaving and two levels of trimming so I can keep up the Miami Vice look!!

Four minutes in the shower is ridiculous in my opinion but some people are very militant about it here. The other day I heard on the radio a tip to save more water is to try showering for three minutes. Like I said ridiculous.

Cap - that’s extraordinary and goes to show that different movies / songs mean so much to different people. We associated our memories, good and bad, with them which is why I think it is so hard some days when you hear one of these songs used in a commercial to sell soap.

Which is why I respect Nick Cave even more because he refuses to allow his songs to be used in commercials because of this very fact.
