A hand written post

December 12th, 2007

I was reading a book that gives suggestions for bloggers wanting to put more well-rounded posts on their blogs. One of these suggestions is to share something with you guys that as readers of the blog you wouldn’t normally get to see or know about me.

You may be able to recognise my style of writing and some of you know what I actually sound like (after the brief flirtation with podcasting that went nowhere thanks to the plugin wrecking the RSS formatting) but at this point none of you know what my handwriting looks like, so here you go:

My apologies to those who read QYDJ via a screen reader or for some other reason can’t read the image above, if you are very concerned you can contact me and I’m more than happy to send a transcript!

As a side note too there have been some issues with the year ago plugin on the sidebar where it has been linking to non-existent image files. I’ve been slowly going through and fixing these up so if you come across one of those error entries just ignore and know that I’m on it!

Oh and as of today it’s showing a link to my favourite scene in Superman Returns, if you haven’t checked it out you should.

I’ve got that book (no one cares about what you had for dinner). I’ve found it useful now and again in dry spells

That’s the one, I was also going to pick up a little card set that suggests dinner conversation topics which I thought might help when I coming up blank.

I experience a lot of the same handwriting problems you describe - constant dependence on the keyboard, the cramping, the rushing, the awfulness. Yours doesn’t seem all that bad; mind is barely legible, even by me. I might also still be rebelling against a handwriting-centric Catholic school upbringing, and that factor is unlikely to go away.

Compared with mine, you have a degree in calligraphy. I am being totally serious.

    thát is creative.
The handwriting is very readable. Mine sucks too, although I know there are lots of people who seem to be writing in some ancient unreadable language ;)
My spelling (at least in Dutch) is quite good, but well..they’ve been hammering at that for like 17 years now..

Burbanked - I found that my spelling of because has suffered over the years because of auto-correct in Word. I’ve always had dyslexia to a degree and so I’ve been mixing letters around and Word has been fixing them for me. I’ve since turned off auto-correct to try and regain some of my discipline.

I don’t expect that I’m rebelling against anything in regards to my handwriting LOL - I used to running write (better known as cursive) but it never fitted well with me and as soon as I no longer had to for school I went back to non-cursive.

I think my writing was on its best behavior for that note too.

MC - Like I said to Burbanked I think my writing was on its best behavior for this pretty short note! I wonder if maybe it’s true that handwriting stuff will eventually become a lost art. I hope not. Maybe I’m going to have to start writing snail mail letters.

Hi Arjan, I wasn’t sure if you would be able to read it actually, wasn’t sure if you were using a translator like babel to read the site. Is English a big language in the Netherlands?

I can see simularities between your handwriting and your drawing. Quite stroung and angular. I like it.

As you can tell by my last comment, spelling isn’t my strong point either, even when typing. The really sad thing is that I write reports and specifications for a living :-|

You know I’ve never really noticed that but you are probably right. Now I’m going to have to examine that in closer detail, who would have thought a simple note might reveal so much more! And don’t talk to me about spelling, I actually paid attention today to the amount of spellcheck corrections today and I’m really ashamed!

    Not to mention grammar :-p

I don’t so much write as I print very blocky capital letters. It is shameful really.
