I’m thinking about a hat.

Well kinda. I am thinking about hats but not as a subject on their own. I’ve been working on an internal meme to help me keep the creative juices flowing here and make me think outside the proverbial hat box. I really enjoyed the favourite character meme primarily because it involved you guys and thank you to everyone who participated.

So the way this works, and maybe I’ll call it the hat box meme (LOL), is that you guys nominate objects or actions that appear to be mundane or general as a theme. The example here is a hat, but it could be any number of things such as umbrella, sunglasses or dinosaur tooth. Then I will give you a themed pop culture response and we’ll discuss etc as per normal blogging. Again the best way to explain it is to give an example.

The suggested theme word is ‘hat’

the man in the hat is backFirst thing that comes to mind is, as the poster suggests, the ‘man in the hat’ himself Indiana Jones. Of course I’m a huge Indiana Jones fan, I can’t imagine anyone who loves pop culture and movies not liking Raiders of the Lost Ark. I am however greatly concerned about the new film. All this talk about his age and I’m worried this film is going to look ridiculous.

In all fairness Harrison Ford is getting older now, there is no denying that and by saying it doesn’t place limitations on what he can do. My problem was that the producers are saying that they are addressing his age and placing the film in the 50s as opposed to the 40s in which the first trilogy is set. Upon further research however I have had to remove my foot from my mouth as type this and look at the fact that the first film was based in 1936, thus at the very least 20 years difference could be reflected.

Fine, I won’t rant about Indy’s age not being addressed. Serves me right to make assumptions about a film that hasn’t been released. Although it should be said that he probably would’ve changed his wardrobe even slightly over the past 20 odd years. I change my style An older Indyat least every third year (granted I’m usually a year behind). I suppose though he knows he’s cool so why mess with something that is already working for you even though the rest of the world moves on in style etc.

I wonder if Indy had to serve in WW1?

Despite my reservations and the fact that the kid from that awful Transformers film is in it I really want this to be a good film, maybe a little too much.

So why not share your thoughts and fear and hopes for the coming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Also I’m hoping to do one of this hat box themed posts a week at least so why not suggest a theme whilst you’re defending that kid from Transformers!!!

as a first…there’s something amiss with your template. The post starts an entire post lower than it should (at least in IE).

2nd: always loved the Indiana Jones’ films (explain why you use the word ‘film’ and others ‘movie’ …cause it’s been confusing me for ages. In Dutch we use the word ‘film’ too :) )
I hope they don’t mess up the next movie..indiana jones…james dean style hehe..just give him a black leather jacket, a pair of sunglasses and some grease.

    A mundane thing: a key

The template should hopefully sorted itself out - the one of was using has always been a little jumpy especially in IE.

Film and movie mean the same thing, film probably has a little more prestige to it. But to be honest I don’t really like the idea that there is a higher class of movie because who can say what movies are higher class?

Yeah I really hate that Transformers guy and he wears that James Dean gear in the film.

The next hatbox post will be about a key. (which doesn’t mean others shouldn’t suggest more!!)

    it works perfectly now :)
I’ll just use film..cause I like that word better (..probably will be mixing )
‘Movie’ does have an American bad-hollywood ring to it ;)
