Indy a little over the hill?
June 24th, 2007
This is the question that everyone has been asking since the next Indiana Jones film was announced as a green light. Is Harrison Ford to old to play Indiana Jones credibly? Well of course he could but the character has to match his age and well from the look of the first official photo I don’t know if that’s the case.

Apparently the film will be set in the 50’s which means that despite the fact that 17 years have actually passed they are going to claim that about only half of those years have past.
The other thing though is that Indy just looks old to me, and I really don’t have any problem with an older Indy but he hasn’t even changed his costume!!!!
Once again I’ll hold off judgement till I see the movie and I WILL definitely see it.

I think to set the film any later would spoil that retro feel for me. The 60’s would be too close.
I reserve judgement until I’ve seen it. But like you, there is no power on earth that will stop me seeing it. I really need to work on keeping my expectations low so I’m not disappointed (a la Star wars episode I)

Yeah I always thought that too, Indy in the sixties doesn’t really fit the series. Perhaps a better idea would’ve been to just make the film earlier?

I never really felt comfortable with the TV series Young Indiana Jones for that reason. Indy shouldn’t get old and comudgenly and hang about libraries or something.
And anyway, the program was secretly educating me about history. The swines!

I don’t understand the sense in those sets - I mean there is a music shop and they don’t even have iPods in the window???? And their CDs are weird looking, all wide and black????
