How’s this for homework?

May 17th, 2007

I am about a week off finishing up uni for this semester (I’m taking a break next semester) and my final assessment is in regards to the formation of identity in the film X-Men.

X-Men

How cool is it that for school I’m watching and examining the first X-Men film!?

And you know what on further examination I really have to consider if X-Men is possibly one of the best comic book films made. There are a lot of layers to the film and it’s interesting that it only really deals with the four core X-Men characters not including Rogue. I still can’t imagine anyone better to play Wolverine. I’m even warming up to Storm - Halle Berry doesn’t usually impress me but that sequence when she ends Toad - just awesome stuff and plenty of fodder for Pop Culture Heroines.

I think maybe one of my favourite sequences is the start with Magneto at the concentration camp. It was just so unexpected when I first saw it and really builds the character.
