Sarah Connor Chronicles

October 18th, 2006

When I first started playing around with myspace my first post had the same topic but I feel it’s worthwhile enough to re-edit, add to and re-post.

In many circles Terminator 2 is considered to be the impossible - a sequel better than the original and I’m not about to debate it. T2 was an event film for my friends and I, so much so that I was prepared to hike all the way to the drive-in to see it. To give you an idea the only place showing movies was the drive-in over in the neighboring town and it would have probably taken me the better part of two days to make it there on foot.

Fortunately a friend of my Mum’s borrowed the car and took me. At the end of T2 instead of going with his original idea of showing Sarah Connor as a grandmother looking over her grandchildren Jim Cameron decided to give us the undiscovered country ending where we don’t know what’s to come.

I wonder if he is still happy he did that. When they released Alien 3 and they had killed off Newt and Hicks - Cameron saw it as a bit of a slap in the face because those were his characters. What did he think of T3 and Sarah having died from natural causes?? Granted we don’t really know if she is indeed dead or not as we don’t see her body and her coffin is filled (in great Sarah style) with guns and ammo.

Now the television series the Sarah Connor Chronicles is coming to the small screen.

Written to fill in the blanks between T2 and T3 as well as tying in with T4 I would imagine.

I personally didn’t enjoy T3 as much as a lot of people seemed to. The dialogue was awful, Arnie’s Terminator was a one liner machine sent from the future to rehash old jokes and to die sacrificing himself for John Connor…again. The other problem is that the Terminator films are all about trying to stop the horror that is coming and with the end of T3 we see nuclear war - I can only assume for T4 we’re going to face the war of the machines.

Amber BensonIt’s my hope that the Sarah Connor Chronicles will fill in this void, they’ve got a lot of opportunity to have some real fun and produce some quality work. I highly recommend that they read the SM Stirling Terminator novels and find the right Sarah… oh hang on I already have her (obviously Linda H will probably be not doing it - although if she does that would be great!)

Amber Benson - best known from Buffy the Vampire Slayer just looks the part and although her age may be an issue and she will have to go to the gym 24 / 7 to build those mad muscles!

love Buffy and love Amber. be interesting to see her in this new role. Also, I read that she is to guest star in Supernatural as a vampire.

Cheers for dropping by and being the first to comment! Amber’s my choice for Sarah anyway - hopefully the producers will consider her!
