Brisbane Storms

November 20th, 2008

I was going to post my first Superhero Day Job post tonight but it has been called off thanks to the weather!  For the past three nights Brisbane has been absolutely smashed with storms, but we ourselves have been really lucky as we’ve only had some water damage and nothing really serious.

Here are some lightning shots taken as the storm front passed over us:

Others of course haven’t been so lucky, to get an idea of the flooding we’ve starting to have to deal with this is the inner city bypass which is very close to the Brisbane CBD:

Yup and there are plenty more cars sitting at the bottom of very watery carparks under buildings. As I type this we are getting a second lot of rain.

No fear there! Actually we had to shelter in a service station along with ten other cars tonight because the storm came up so heavy.

Holy cow! Those are awesome photos of the lightening. How do you know when to snap the picture? Just wildly take pictures of the sky and hope to grab some?

That’s some serious water, too. Good luck and keep safe.

okay, wait… I just went to the news article you listed and ran across this at the bottom… Driver convicted for penis in pasta jar.

What the heck kind of whacko criminals do you have down there? That has got to be the weirdest arrest I’ve heard of.

I loved the electrical storms we got when I was a child growing up on the Gold Coast. They seemed to have disappeared by the time I was in my 20’s. Perhaps this is all the missing storms hitting at once.

My girlfriend’s brother - who is moving to Brisbane with his job - was stuck on a plane, trying to land in the middle of that. Rather him than me.
