Captain Incredible: A comic book Q&A
October 9th, 2008
Oh the names of the people I get through here :), I have a suspicion that ‘Capt.’ Incredible is not really a Captain at all, I mean he does defend Neptune and all but would they really get a Captain? Maybe a Commander…
At any rate he’s been a welcome addition on the blogroll for quite a while now and it’s always a pleasure to talk comics with Captain Incredible…
- Favourite regular series right Now?
Daredevil
- Comic book character you only recently discovered/started reading?
Captain America
- If you could draw/write one character who would it be?
Batman
- Are you a fan of the big multi issue crossover extravaganzas?
Not a fan of crossovers - leastways, not on the scale we see these days. - Last comic book series that you dropped and why?
Trinity - the second story was starting to drive me nuts. You could say it was in the cards. - Favourite character?
Batman
- Are you a DC or a Marvel?
About 70-30 DC.
- Do you remember your first comic/series?
Batman - sometime in 1968 or so - my dad bought it for me because we both liked to watch the TV show. I’ve been hooked ever since. - Is Watchmen the movie going to be as good as the comic book?
I hope so.
- Favourite comic book movie?
Iron Man.
- Worst comic book movie?
LXG (I haven’t seen Catwoman).
- Character you’d like to see in a movie?
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan).
- Series that you’d like to see on TV?
Powers.

‘evening, Lee,
Nope - definitely a Captain (it means something really cool in Neptunian - there’s only ever one at a time), but that’s okay…
By a bizarre quirk of fate, LXG is on TV tonight, so I’m reminded just what a bucket of fish innards it actually is. Two-plus hours of my life, ‘lorst and gorn’ forever. It could have been worse, though - Joel Schumacher could’ve been involved…
I’ve got satellite duty, so until next time…

LOL Captain it is then
You should have seen the younger, eager, bright with hope me when I bought the DVD and sat down to watch it. Hope sparkled in my eyes, no Connery didn’t look right in the role but that’s OK, I mean when was the last time Connery was in a truely awful film…. (I’m going to say The Avengers, that should have been a warning).
A little piece died inside me that day as the credits finally rolled and I wondered how I was going to explain spending $15 on an unseen movie to my wife (she has never watched it and thus does not know the levels of bad that it generates).
I dunno about Schumacher’s involvement, maybe he would have brought nipples to the party?

Ah the Catwoman movie. I’d wiped that experience from my memory, but now I just want to cower in a corner.

I haven’t seen this myself, I read the adaptation of it and it was really awful. Like the worst of the DC Elseworlds range (and there have been some crap ones of those).
I could have told them where they went wrong with that one without even seeing it

Oh man I forgot about LXG! Thanks for bringing back the memory of that horrible movie; I had thought I’d purged it.
We saw it with a bunch of nerdy friends and we were griping about it the second the lights went up and stood in the parking lot griping for another half-hour! Oh, gods! It returns! The memory of the horror returns! We hates it forever!
And seconds on the Powers on TV thing. Only if they could remove a bit of the gore for gore’s sake. And maybe ‘forget’ the whole hero since he was an apeman thing…

I haven’t read Powers yet, I’ve had the opportunity a couple of times to check it out but I pick the book up and wonder if it is worth it, did the same with Fables (although I just read the first issue of that and are intrigued) and with the Invisibles.
