I don’t recall when Firefox was first announced, I imagine it probably wasn’t a big event and was a gradual thing as it developed into the browser we know (or knew, since we’re now on 3) from its origins. Â Not being a Mac guy Safari only came onto my radar a couple of years ago, well after it’s launch. Â So I was really interested when I heard about a new ‘big’ browser, by big I mean mainstream, by mainstream I mean that it wasn’t just put together in someone’s garage.Â
I only found out yesterday that Google were even working on their own browser, from what I’ve read I’m not the only one. Â So with 24 hours up my sleeve I decided straight away that since so far I’ve been pretty happy with Google products so far I would install it, besides if you’re going to web design you need to be across all the browsers and with Google behind Chrome I can’t imagine it failing too much.
So this morning I am typing this from an extrememly streamlined and fast Google Chrome window which has already imported all my settings from Firefox (there is a lot of Firefox in here I’m fairly certain).Â
Since I haven’t been using it for more than fifteen minutes the system hasn’t identified my must frequented sites that will show up on my start page, but I look forward to that
Also there are no plugins for it yet, I don’t think…?  I’ll have to go look.
One of the other things that got my attention straight away is the way that Google explains Chrome: via comic book!Â

I’ve been using it this morning (this comment written in Google Chrome) and I am definitely impressed. There are plugins - it has Flash already, for example - but no installable extensions yet, ala Firefox.
If extensions I need for work like Firebug and Greasemonkey are ported to Chrome, I think we may have a new contender for the goatlady’s default browser

Well if it continues to perform so smoothly I’m sure developers will start porting those extensions pretty quickly.
As I mentioned in Twitter, I really love the idea that the tabs all work independently so if one freezes it doesn’t take your whole browser out, that alone is almost worth it for me

I’m playing with it too. it’s quite good.
minimalistic - you designers probably appreciate that more than anyone.

I really like the idea of a very simple browser, I don’t really need a whole bunch in it but I do want some of the extension (not enough to be a deal breaker though)

I’m one of those sheep still clinging to IE. But that’s also because I like the way how you can create a new tab with a fast click on the current tab. And I still like the bookmark set-up of IE better.
I’ve been told you can adjust it with Firefox so that you can have the same things, but I’m lazy. I dó use firefox now and then, if only for testing purposes of peoples websites.
I might check out Chrome somewhere this week. Oh and I don’t like Safari much, if only for the fact that I dislike the minimize, maximize and close buttons

I’m looking forward to IE8 - it should be an interesting version because all the standards work they’ve been doing.

I must be walking around with my head “where the sun don’t shine” as this is the first I’ve heard of Google’s nest step in world domination.
I’ll definitely be giving it a go

There isn’t a version for the mac yet, so I’m feeling all left out.
I amwriting this from safari though, which I prefer to both IE and Firefox

The Mac version is coming, I don’t know how far away it is though. Why don’t you go and stare at the Hellboy gun whilst you fill in that time, Safari boy.

I know!!!
Now if I can get all my instruction manuals and text books in comic book format that would work out just fine!

I’m more comfortable with it now that it seems they are not going to try and hold copywrite for anything that users upload using Chrome.

So, if I download the google chrome it will replace the internet explore that I currently open every day? Will I notice much difference? Would my email and stuff be the same or would I have to get used to a whole new system. ‘Cos I don’t handle change well. Computers confuse me until I get used to whatt I’m doing. Then all is well until something updates itself and causes me confusion again. I’m sure by now my kids are tired of helping me sort it out.

Well it won’t replace your internet explorer as such, you’d have to assign it as your browser. Email and everything would still be the same but it sounds like you’re comfortable with Internet Explorer so I don’t know if I would recommend changing over unless you know what you’re doing.
You know if it ain’t broke

I just downloaded Chrome when I saw some Twitter updates from my friends talking abt it and now it’s in your blog. Lol. I reckon it’s simple and easy to use. I actually like it but I’m so used to Firefox now. Practise makes perfect.

It is now officially my default browser, i have to get used to a different feed reader until they come along with a good in browser so Firefox is still getting opened at least once a day so I don’t miss out on everyone’s posts.
Now why aren’t you doing your assignments?
