I promised no red in this picture

August 25th, 2008

Tracey noticed that all of the pictures I’d been drawing have all been predominately red.   She was right of course except for Abe and Johann but the red in Hellboy and Deadpool more than made up for them.

So then I decided I wanted to draw a character with a bit of colour, also I wanted to try out the new paper:

Ok now I promise the next post won’t be a drawing, I can’t promise anything for the one following though :).

LOL maybe it was all this Olympic stuff going on that inspired it :)
To answer your other question, I just have so little confidence in my abilities in drawing women. It’s weird, I guess I’m just not comfortable with it because I have predominately drawn male superheroes.

I don’t like how a lot of the female characters are drawn in the comic book world. I suppose I should challenge myself more with drawing the ladies. So the next drawing will be of a female character. :)

Well I did a female drawing today, will post it here on QYDJ eventually but for now it is sitting on my Posterous blog.

I don’t know what it is about how comic book artists handle the female form that irritates me, they don’t look real, not that the guys necessarily do either but especially the giant boobs and ridiculously tiny costumes - I dunno I think I sound like a prude LOL.
