Which is going to be worse?
July 7th, 2008
So I’ve had a run of really fantastic films so far this season. The movies have all generally lived up to what I was hoping for with the exception of one or two movies.
Two films that are coming out (or already have but I’m not seeing them) that haven’t even come close to my ‘must watch’ list are the comedies (?) The Love Guru and Meet Dave.
I’ve read some of the predictions online and the reviews have not been kind but I’m interested in what you all think?
For the past couple of hours I’ve had the poll running, which of these two you think will fare worse, take a look at the trailers, vote and let us know what your predictions are:
First off we’ll look at the Love Guru, Mike Myers is a funny guy, this thing doesn’t look like it is an hour and half of funny though:
And then we have Meet Dave, I’m not going to say this looks worse but I must admit I did comment that I’m surprised someone in the studio actually thought this was a good idea:

LOL I know it’s not really much of a choice is it

You know, I might be admitting a little too much here, but I quite like the look of Meet Dave. I’ve always liked the idea of tiny people in someones head though.
The love guru looks dire.

Dan - that’s interesting because I think if I had to choose (and i wish to make it clear that I have not and will not take a side in this travesty) I would probably favour Love Guru over Dave. But that’s only because of a lot of good will from Austin Powers.

I won’t be wasting my petrol money on either film, but you’d have to pay me to watch Meet Dave. Eddie Murphy should have stopped making films a long time ago.
Mind you, judging from the size of the free-standing promo in the foyer of my local cinema, I think the movie promoters might know there’s a few people out there that think like me. It’s a 2-metre-high 3-D cut-out of Eddie’s head that encourages you to walk through the middle of it. It has his face and hair on the outside and shots of the bridge and “ship layout” on the inside.
Sorry movie promoters, but it wasn’t enough to sway me.

Ian - I can’t believe that movie studios still invest in those movies!?
They drove a giant model of Murphy’s head around some city, I guess they must expect that people will be intimidated by giant Eddie Murphys and will go to the movie out of fear.
