I don’t think I’m giving anything away by confirming that Captain America does not make an appearance in the new Hulk film.
But just because we don’t see him he’s not completely absent though. Â When discussing the super soldier serum a character is asked if there were any successes with the program.
The answer of course is a big yes (with interesting results) and all of us Marvel geeks know and excitedly elbow our non Marvel geek partners that the success was Captain America.
I’m actually a little relieved that they didn’t try and jam Cap into the film, for one thing they haven’t cast him yet and secondly I doubt the costume has already been designed.

Apparently one of the (many) deleted scenes involves Banner going on a trek to the Arctic, a self-imposed exile in which he stumbles across… or passes by… a mysterious figure frozen in the ice.
I guess we’ll have to wait for the DVD special edition!

Now that would have been interesting, hard to add back into the film I would imagine though.
That DVD should be pretty cool - I’m hoping for a Norton cut.

You know what, with all this talk about the hulk I’m very tempted to act irresponsibly and go to a midnight showing tonight. You’re only young once eh!?
(actual;ly i’m probably not even young now, perhaps that should be ‘You’re only aproaching middle age once!”

Arjan - It is such a big year for movies - it’s exhausting LOL

Dan - you should so go do that! Someone, somewhere is young, do it for them!
Or if you look at it another way you’re made up of two quite young people! So buy enough popcorn for two.

I did it, just got back now at 1am. And to be honest it was worth it. From various things I read I thought it was going to be crap, but it was a good honest movie. The acting was good, the plot was reasonable, it only made me thing “oh come on” once.
I enjoyed it.
I’m going to do this late night showing thing more often.

I loved incredible hulk. I’m a fan of Edward Norton’s movies in general though so I may be biased. I’m glad they didn’t try and squeeze captain america in though. Tony Stark was enough. If the Avengers movie gets up, it’s looking like it could be one hell of a cast!
Have you read Planet Hulk Lee? Based on some of the other stuff you like, I think you’d probably enjoy it.

Dan - that’s really cool, I like the way you describe the film actually ‘good honest movie’ which is what I felt about it too.
There’s something nice about going out to the cinema at night.
Glad you felt it was worth it

Swollen Pickles - I’ve always been pretty happy with Norton’s stuff. I was thinking the exact same thing about Cap’s appearance, it is a Hulk film afterall not a free for all promotional wagon for all of Marvel’s other franchises.
So yes it was just enough.
I haven’t read Planet Hulk, I’ve read about it and read some of World War Hulk (would have liked to have seen Stark dust off the old Hulkbuster armour and give it an upgrade - which maybe he did I only remember seeing the Mark 2 completed Hulkbuster suit which looked cool too but not as cool).
I’ll have a look at it after they release it all in trade.
