Robotic hand: concept drawing

This drawing is a concept piece that I’m working on in two ways:
- I’m currently working on a piece involving a robot which I can’t give any details out yet but I’m pretty excited about the work and it may be taking me in a different direction. I will let you know that it does not feature an established character. So I am playing around with robotic drawing and sketches and this arm is part of that process. There may be a bunch of robot parts coming up
- I’m also experimenting with water colours as I really like the effect that they have when mixed into non traditional water colour images. I’m working up to doing a Batman water colour piece but I’m working out the kinks in the background (he’s a night character!).
I prefer the first image, before I had put any ink on it, it is a tiny drawing so the detail isn’t there and even one of my smallest pens comes out quite thick on it.
The pencil I used was way too dark but then I think it left an interesting effect under the colour.
