Glass houses?

“Actress X is an ugly mole” was the delightful declaration I got to hear the other day in a gaming store. I’m not going to dignify the comment by identifying the actress in question. But it certainly gave me pause to wonder why women have such horrible self esteem problems.
Actually I probably wouldn’t have even noticed the young ‘lady’ who said it but she said it with such bile in her voice that I couldn’t ignore her and couldn’t really understand where such anger came from and so strongly?
The actress in question isn’t a super model by any standard (seriously what standards though!?) but really? Ugly mole?
That’s pretty rough.
Of course you may be wondering at this stage what glamorous creature this must be to be able to pass such definitive judgement? Thongs or possibly barefoot, I’m hoping not barefoot but it is a very good chance. Baggy, stained, grey tracksuit pants and awful skin.
I’m not judging, I’m just saying.

I am always reminded of the line in mean girls where the teacher is talking to the stadium full of girls and tells them that “you all have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it ok for guys to call you sluts and whores.”
I don’t know if women put each other down to feel better about themselves or to make themselves feel better about the men in their lives putting them down but whatever the reason is its not pretty and needs to stop.

Bettina - that is a good line actually, they seem to show Mean Girls on channel ten every second week.
See your point is really good and I wasn’t able to nail it down like you did. It was her comments that made her ugly, the way she spat the words out. But then she herself was wearing clothes that others would easily be able to pick on her for.

Haha, thanks for describing the perpetrator. It gave me a good chuckle. Such good adjectives.
But seriously, I am also saddened when hearing people talk like that. It really does shout out to the world about your self esteem issues.
