Sex and the City - money in the bank?

I’m wondering what return the studios are expecting from the upcoming Sex and the City film.   I think that it is going to be excellent and I’m actually really looking forward to it.   I got hooked on the show after Tracey introduced me to it.

I think that it is very cool that the girls decided to go the movie route instead of the telemovie path but I’m interested what type of returns the studio is hoping for.   How much of a box office share will the film take off Indy?

Completely different demographic I expect, very few gophers probably.

See I can’t imagine non fans going and seeing the film at the cinema, maybe they’ll be interested enough to give it a look, but again I can’t imagine the storyline will be as rewarding as it would had you seen the series?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m hoping and expecting it to be a success, I’m just wondering is all.

Dunno. but it’s certainly a great way to give old fans a new interest and possible motivation to buy the dvd series set, to get new interest in the tv show (and again the dvd series). I guess we’ll see. It will be nice to visit ‘the girls’ again. :)

Bettina - that is true, I hadn’t really thought about the simple revitalisation of the material (simple may not be the word we’re looking for here).

I think it will be pretty big to be honest. There has been a lot of hype about it for a long time and I know a lot of people who have said they are going.

Personally though i’d rather eat my own head.

To respond to your “I can’t imagine non fans going and seeing the film at the cinema” comment: I didn’t like and show and Tennille didn’t like the show so we’re not going to see the movie. Simple as that.

Yeah, I’m not really sure. I got into it late after my girlfriend bugged me to death to watch it. I actually enjoyed watching the show.

I think its either going to do wonderful or flop. I think it’ll pull in a lot of old fans and help increase DVD sales and may pull in a good bit of new fans with all the hype. Either way, I know I’ll be going with my gf to see it.

Advertising doesn’t work then on you Ian :)

I still haven’t found that picture BTW. Probably dig it up when we move - in the meantime I’m pretty certain I can devote some time to drawing our fiery friend.

Justin - yeah I actually enjoyed the series too so i can only imagine that I’ll find the movie enjoyable enough. Of course if Carrie lived next door to Iron Man…

Maybe this weekend actually Ian - I have some thoughts around a Punisher pic that I’ve been planning for months and months and thn I may have another crack at that Iron Man one but then I’ve got an inkling for what to do with Ghost Rider. Actually feel free to make a suggestion on how you’d like to see him.
