Pet Peeves
October 31st, 2006
Last post I asked about hit counters and I pretty much thought the way you guys did. I’m old enough to remember when hit counters were the coolest thing to have on your website. So I thought it may be interesting to get everyone’s pet peeves when it comes to websites - I’ll get the ball rolling:
- animated gifs
- animated under construction gifs
- badly put together jpegs - ones with that fuzziness especially around text
I’m looking for comments that when you read them you go arrrrg I hate that too!!!
Take up the challenge - What Are Your Website Pet Peeves???

I want traditional menus where I can see what my options are!

I hate hate hate (so much that it deserves three instances of the word) auto-play music or videos with a burning passion. Not only do I not care what you’re listening to, more often than not it’s so badly coded that it freezes my browser.

Both very good points! I really hate in blogs were people force a download of a music video!

Oh my - where do I begin?
I agree with all the pet peeves posted so far - the music HAS to be one of the worst.
Blue text/black background - or any other color combo that makes reading the text next to impossible
Having to scroll to much.
No search engine - this bugs me on large sites
Pics not formatted for the web (i.e. having to wait for them to download)
So many more but I will stop….

Pop-ups! Random, uncalled for pop-ups advertising crappy screensavers, I.Q. tests, world peace or whatever. No, really, do I GIVE a damn?
