More comic book movie joy - The Incredible Hulk poster

The marketing on this film seems to be lagging compared to Iron Man’s, I wonder as this is the second Marvel financed film if they’re not holding their breath just a little, waiting to see what kind of money that Iron Man does first.

Oh that Iron Man film is money alright.

Anyway IGN got their hands on the Incredible Hulk poster and like I said yesterday - I’m a sucker for a good poster and this is a very cool poster:

  1. That is a damn cool poster. I can see why Marvel would be nervous - comic book movies can be kind of hit and miss, and here they are sending two out with all the expectations that come with the fact that they’re Marvel-financed…

along with the fact that The Hulk has already been tackled recently and not been hugely well received. Whereas Iron Man is something new and fresh - so I guess it’s no surprise they’re leading with that…

    or something.

  2. I like how the poster conjures up a sense of the television series and from the trailer I have the impression that Bruce is trying to use the Hulk rather than just trying to escape it. It will be nice to see him as a hero rather than a Frankenstein monster.

The poster is vaguely reminiscent of the cover of the comic book too (very vaguely).

I hope that they both do well because it’s nice seeing a publishing house maintaining some degree of control of their characters - they only have themselves to blame for messed up portrayals.

  3. That is a cool poster.

I’ll be very interested to see what this version is like after the crap that was the last one. It makes my brain hurt just to think about the last one.

  4. Bettina - yeah we had a bit of a mixed discussion here a while back regarding the merits of the first Hulk film, with some quite liking it and others, myself included not being so impressed.

I’m glad they are leaving that film behind and ignoring it, too much of a risk to try and salvage it.

  5. I like the poster, it gives a dark feeling to it.
The only thing is that those heli’s and tanks in the background remind me of Godzilla.

  6. I’m not too fussed on this poster. For the Hulk, this image has been done too many times before. I want to see something new.

Don’t get me wrong though: I’m still gonna see it when it comes out :-)

  7. Very cool poster.

We have only just got Iron man over here.

Can’t wait to get to see it.

  8. Apparently Robert Downey Jnr appears in the Hulk as Tony Stark. Nice little cross over.

  9. Arjan - it does have a little Godzilla’ish feel to it. Ummm we might just forget we noticed that - I still want to see the film. ;)

  10. Ian - given that they want to try and be very faithful to the Hulk a familiar pose probably isn’t so out of place. I’m looking forward to this more and more.

  11. This, coupled with Norton’s statement yesterday about the supposed rift being blown out of all proportion, means I’m starting to get cautiously excited about this flick again.

  12. I think with Norton that the Hulk is in good hands, every time he’s been interviewed he’s impressed me with his intentions.
