Hitman the movie
I’ve had Hitman floating around the house for a couple of weeks now and I hadn’t gotten around to watching it until last night. A couple of people had suggested that it wasn’t worth the effort and not to bother.
But I knew I still wanted to see it because I enjoy the games (what little I’ve played of them) and thought the advertising was interesting. There was simply no hurry for me to do so as I should try and watch it whilst doing something else at the same time, I often do this.
For some reason last night though I was watching a couple of season one Deep Space Nine episodes without doing something else at the same time and saw the Hitman disc sitting there so on a whim I popped it in.
Look I’m not going to try defending the film to whomever thinks that it is a crap film (which is apparently everyone), I really don’t have the patience and honestly don’t wish to become the crusader for below par films, this film has as many bad points as it does good ones.
I love that they captured many a video game scene in the film, it felt like a Hitman game at certain stages which some may see as a negative whilst I see it as a positive. Of course some other fans of the games disliked the showy action violence as this goes against the stealth based assassinations often used in the games and I see that point as well. We got to see the garrotte once though it is not actually used.
Some of the storyline is altered too which seem to upset some people, clone or orphan I don’t really have a preference. Confusing or lacking in storyline is the other often used complaint that I must admit I think gets over used by people who’s attention span is limited to films that will be on the awards table. I didn’t have any problem with following the plot and certainly don’t think that it strayed from the story it had that often.
The scene where the two kids are playing Hitman was, in my opinion quite funny and didn’t detract from the film at all. If anything it possibly reminds us that this is a video game film so unclench and go along with it.
I understand that the film did ok financially so I wonder if there is a Hitman 2 in our future?
I could get behind that.

I’ve had the game lying around here (nr 1 I think) for about a year..gotta get it started up. I saw someone playing it once, and it was really cool. But first..finish C&C3 which is quite difficult for a C&C game in a good way.
Have to see the film too (hitman that is
)

I really like the idea behind the games, the whole taking things slowly and planning it out in your head before… executing your plan.
I spent days working out that I had to hide under a staircase and throttle some dude.
I’m going to try and play the three or four Hitman games I’ve got lying around here when we finally move.
I don’t care what anyone thinks. I like this film; and I’m looking forward to a part two. Albeit, I’ve not seen any talk of it yet online (I could be looking in the wrong places)…
As a matter of fact, I’m going to put it on right now!

I’m wondering if you found anything about a sequel - I can’t say I’ve seen anything at all about one.
Nope, not seen a thing…
