Stargate: The Ark of Truth - a very nice episode

Stargate: The Ark of Truth

I can’t wait for the next SG1 DVD to be released, because hopefully they’ll be able to leave the old storylines behind and boldly go where no… umm hang on… no.

I finally watched The Ark of Truth and I was entertained, I wasn’t blown away but I was very happy by the end of it and as I mentioned am very excited about the next instalment which hopefully will have more of a movie feel to it.

I’m not disappointed by it as this is what I expected, I’ve read interviews with the actors that all pointed to this being a sew up all the loose ends episode which paves the way for some exciting standalone movies.

I think the replicator storyline was probably not my bag of door knobs probably thanks to Atlantis, these guys strike me as Lego gone nuts and that new government guy is Dick from Men in Trees so I can’t be mad at him.

Teal’c is fast growing on me though there was one scene where he is laying in the mud and his grey streak was so badly done that it made me… actually nothing really, it’s a very small point that I’m happy to forget, he did how ever have some very memorable sequences.

Overall if you are an SG1 fan you should love this, if you are a science fiction fan and can make some fill in the gaps leaps with the whole Ori bit then you should enjoy it for the most part. If you’ve never seen SG1, now is not the time to jump on board, buy a couple of seasons of the show first and then ease on in.

One very cool thing I should point out is that I really dig the design of the Ori ships!!

I am not sure how far towards the final season of SG1 I’ve actually seen (have been leaving myself at the mercy of terrestrial TV scheduling - further limited by the fact that one of the terrestrial TV channels where shows often end up in the UK is pretty much unavailable where I live)… and I’ve not seen any of Atlantis (though my sister raves about it)…
so is “Ark of Truth” itself a sort of stand-alone Stargate movie-type thingy?

    @ John: it’s a wrap-up of the Sg1 storyline.

Saw this one as soon as it leaked ^^. Buying all seasons is kinda out of my wallet..that would be 400€…auch. Maybe if I win the lottery.
Liked the film, and won’t complain about the way it ended because of the same reasons you mentioned. And there’s always the point where you just don’t want it to end and you won’t like any ending at all, so I decided I like the ending ;)

My wife’s a huge SG1 fan, so I’ll let her know about this. If she get’s it, I may watch as well :-)

I loved Ark of Truth. Sad it went by so quickly.

Kept trying to figure out how it fit into the Atlantis time -line.

And yes those Ori ships are way cool.

Arjan - I was thinking more renting it from your local video library rather than forking out for the ten seasons - although in saying that some of them are quite affordable here in Australia to those who have some form of disposable income which in fairness ain’t all of us!! For some reason I wrote buy though so I’m hoping for MGM to forward me a cheque.

Yeah I don’t know if you’ll appreciate it that much if you don’t watch the series Ian - I mean maybe you never know!

Marita - I was wondering that myself about the timeline, I thought it interesting when Cameron(?) offered Samantha command :)

I would say before season four Atlantis which kind of dates the movie a bit - I’m interested how they’ll handle it for the next film - I hope it isn’t like Worf showing up in the trek films over and over despite being posted to DS9.

John - I must say I do probably prefer SGA over SG1 despite my rumblings about it.
