Guess the Amerykanski movie
March 11th, 2008
I recently discovered the wonderful world of Polish produced movie posters. Often you’ll find in foreign markets they may alter the poster art for a movie slightly to possibly reach a different marketplace. What the Polish apparently do is throw that all out the window and produce some mad, out there, inspired artwork which aims at a whole other level.
So here’s something to keep you thinking - what movie is the following poster advertising?

In the interest of fairness and general joyfulness if you speak or read Polish resist ruining for everyone else! I have of course blurred the references that may give it away and I’ll give everyone the answer in a day or two. One last clue ‘it is part of a franchise’.
Leave your guesses in the comments!

Jeff - I will give you the decade: the 80s

LOL Dan I’ll give you the URL after at least one more. That’s a good guess by the way but it is incorrect. Actually I would have guessed that too now that I look at it.

Wasn’t Debbie does Dallas the 70s? and no it’s not that.

This is gonna sound a bit strange, as the mood of the film doesn’t hugely fit the artwork, but just on visual imagery:
Back to the Future ??

John - nice guess but no cigar. I totally see BTTF and maybe in some way you are close…

Well, another though I had on similar lines (and the blocky graphics fit) was The Terminator

Is it Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home?
If it isn’t, then Goole just lied to me :-p
[Reply to this comment]
Nice one Jeff but unfortunately wrong - if we were in Ghostbusters I would have just given you an electric shock.

Arjan - I’m impressed with your powers of deduction - it is a very interesting connection you’ve made there. I’m going to give it to you - it was Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. I’ll give this one to you because it looks like Ian has ruined it google style in the next comment.

Ian - there’s always one who turns to Google and ruins it for everyone else.

heh… every time I think about electric shock administration, I think about Strange Brew (which, oddly, is also linked to Ghostbusters).
“Okay, it’s my turn, eh”

Oh, I forgot to say, “What kind of warped mind makes a connection between that picture and Star Trek?!” Seriously, that’s either messed up, or the guy who came up with it is operating on a much higher plane of existence where weird things like that make sense.

Man it’s been years since I’ve watched Strange Brew! Ghostbusters had more of an impact on my life so that’s why it comes to mind every time!
LOL that’s what I’m saying about Polish film poster people - they are working on a whole other level
[Reply to this comment]
I can translate it to U:
“American science-fiction movie”
and
“Back on the ground”
But I agree, the picture is weird….
