Now I love Ghostbusters, a lot.
I’ve earned my place at the Ghostbusters fan table with my devotion to the film over the majority of my life and I think even I’m ready to let go of the idea that I’ll ever see the four of them dressed in Ghostbusters gear again. In fact that video below may be certainly be the last time for Murray no matter if they go ahead or not.
I saw an interview with Dan Aykroyd recently and he spoke about how it wasn’t Bill Murray that was the only hold up but he wasn’t very convincing and there was an undercurrent of annoyance. Maybe Bill is right though?
Frankly I think Ghostbusters is a perfect film that doesn’t need to be added to or remade just to get more cash. And as much as I would have loved G3 I can’t see it being very good.
Of course stranger things have happened (especially when it comes to Bill Murray’s career) and I expect that Sony would really really love the money.
But need I remind anyone of Blues Brothers 2000?

Seriously look at that kid?!?
I’d love to get another good Ghostbusters film, but honestly I don’t see that it has legs. When I look at the actors now… Murray’s right. I don’t want to see them in the jump suits sullying my view of the originals the way Indy 4 did. That was lightening in a bottle, and even the relatively quick turnaround of G2 didn’t quite match up. If they had followed up when they were young, that’s one thing.
Now, that said, I probably wouldn’t mind a video game or a CGI animation show with the original voices -- as long as it’s treated closer to The Clone Wars than Scooby Doo.
The videogame that they released semi recently was fantastic if not a little short, I’d be more than happy to see another one of those.
I’m totally with you on this. But I do like the idea of the characters being used in comics.
I read some of the comic books and to be honest I don’t think the characters lend themselves well to the comic book form.
I think I would be interested in a “next generation” of Ghostbusters style book though, something that didn’t rely too heavily on the original characters but still has the concepts etc.
Well about the thing that bill say we wont see old fat guys in ghostbusters suits.
well maybe he is right but i dont think bill looks fat and horrible in the video above..
In fact its cool to see him in it again..
maybe im the only one who think that
