Wonder Woman's new costume
I’ve tried to read Wonder Woman in the past because of her iconic status in comic book history and I’ve never really been able to get into her stories and so I’ve known her more from her appearances in Justice League and the dismal Trinity. But there was some news in the last day or two involving her and her costume.
There’s a new look for Wonder Woman!
For a long time I’ve not been a fan of Wonder Woman’s costume, I mean it’s pretty much the sexiest costume out there but it is completely impractical and I find it hard to take the character seriously. She’s not alone, there are plenty of female super heroes who’s costumes are just stupid and exploitive.
Personally I probably wouldn’t have made the change that drastic but I’m impressed enough by the costume that I’ll be picking up its debut in Wonder Woman #600 to see where they are taking the character.

Midnight Movie Club plug
I haven’t tried to push the Midnight Movie Club onto you guys for a while but this week’s podcast is a welcome return to form as Dan and I try and get back to basics on the podcast and watch some films that we might actually like for a change! This week we watched Gremlins.

I’ve read this issue and it wasn’t too bad -- I’ll probably add it to the regular list actually. But yes the character for so long has been a bunch of pants.
It’s like the mantle of Icon has been thrust upon her rather than actually being felt by the fans.

I think that for years the stories haven’t been strong for Wonder Woman, certainly not generally accessible for the non-reader either. Her appearances in everything else have been helpful I’m sure.
I’m not a huge Jim Lee fan, but I do quite like the redesign -- and it makes much more sense for a supposed feminist icon than the starry knickers.

I haven’t read a good argument against the change yet, I suspect the costume will adapt as time goes along but I think the same thing.
Actually saw Jim Lee being interviewed where he spoke very intelligently on the change and the reality of fighting in a swimsuit.
Some comic fans hate (any) change so much, it’s a wonder they don’t just read the first comic they ever bought over and over again and stay happy.
