I got a really cool email the other day (you know I honestly am beginning to think that my inbox will one day start rejecting emails that aren’t “notifications” because I get real mail so rarely) from QYDJ friend Arkonbey telling me about this art submission thing that I totally have to get in on but only have a couple of days in which to do it.
Now when Arkonbey talks about something like this I listen, if you don’t check out his work then you really should.
So I went over and checked it all out and got super excited.
The brief is an illustration depicting a bear fight, literally. So here are the pencils for my bear fight illustration which I’ll be inking up later today and hopefully submitting tonight.
I know it’s been quiet again round here but it’s been crazy busy at home, so much so that the house is a shambles that I’m thinking of torching and running away with the sweet sweet insurance money* and it hasn’t left a LOT of time to get around to everyone’s blogs and post here etc.
Did manage to get over the 9000 line on Fat Bottomed Girls in SingStar and Dan and I had a chat about So I Married an Axe Murderer.
Check out Arkonbey’s submission to Bear Fight!
*Just so you know the insurance money would not be that sweet and we are not planning to burn our house down, knowing my luck the bloody house would burn down now and I’ll get accused of ‘torching’ the place…

it sounds like we need to cue Blood Hound Gang's firewaterburn
I'm curious how your inked version will look. They look a bit on the friendly side for fighting bears at the moment.
Wow, I have that song somewhere and now I want to stick it on my iPhone!!!
Trust me when inked this bears come to bear fight club to fight… except the first rule is that I can't tell you that.
Actually I wish kind of that I'd shown them in full because they wouldn't be wearing shoes (another rule from Bear Fight Club).
Have submitted the piece to them so I'll be posting the finished product tomorrow afternoon after the morning dose of Thoughts of a Storm Trooper.
That is totally going to rock! Are you going to put the bare-bulbed ceiling light?
Now that I look at it, I'm going to make an observation, but it's only because I want you to get in the book. The website says:
“create an image of any type of bear you want (grizzly, polar, panda, fictional, etc), BUT that bear has to be fighting something, anything, of your choice.”
I wouldn't want you to miss out on a technicality.
I came very close to popping the light bulb in but at the end I left it out.
I also did think about the description and came very close to adding a shoulder into the bottom right corner. But again at the end the intention is there of a face off which is part of a fight and they didn't say anything in their email back to me.
Overall just happy to be inspired to draw something and the book would simply be icing on that cake (which I have to thank you for BTW).
The finished version will be online in about an hour
