Tracey and I bought a Christmas tree a couple of years into our marriage, we bought a really good one that I would proudly put together each year like I was actually handy or something (generally I’m not a handy man although since buying a house I have become a little handier).
Then in some of our more recent disastrous moves the tree disappeared and we have no idea what happened to it. So we’ve discussed over the last couple of weeks if we are going to get all festive and stuff and buy another tree and decorate the house.
Our last Christmas wasn’t so crash hot, with the problems we had buying and moving in and then with Memphis getting sick there wasn’t so much joy.
The commercialism of Christmas is what often puts me off so it is ironic that buying something is potentially going to be the catalyst for us getting into the Christmas spirit (at least decoration wise).
I give you, the Ecto 1 Christmas decoration:
It’s beautiful.
It even plays the Ghostbusters song, none of these cheap nasty Christmas carols.
Of course it should be noted that I have a LOT of similar Star Trek ornaments from Hallmark that I’ve never been able to use and the Serenity ones as well, but this ornament is just special and I must have it.

Oh, c'mon, you gotta have a tree to dangle a wee Bones or Scotty or Spock from but don't you dare put Kirk in the angel's spot, that's reserved for Uhura!
Kirk is to replace that lump of coal for naughty kids
can you hang it in the tree?
And can you do the same with startrek /serenity things (ships would be cool)..because that would justify it as a christmas decoration.
that is pretty awesome. (in an aside: I've always wondered why there was never a 1/25 scale model of Ecto 1…)
This post has me wondering: Do Australians decorate native trees or are evergreens imported? I mean, being from New England, USA, I find it funny that people in Florida and Arizona import real or buy artificial evergreens; why not decorate a cactus or a palm tree? For us, there's a Christmas Tree farm two miles from our house, but, can firs grow Down Under?
Inquiring minds want to know! Expand my world, man!
Sigh.
I don't know how Tracy puts up with you.
(now a batman decoration, now that's a different matter)
Very cool Christmas decoration.
Get the tree and get into the spirit.

I don't think I have the Uhura ornament actually – I've got a Janeway
Yup they are all designed to be hung in the tree except some also have the option to be used as little standalone models which I do with the Serenity ornaments – I'll post a gallery of them.
there's a 1/21 scale model which looked fantastic but I never had the cash when it was available: http://www.amazon.com/Ertl-Ghostbusters-Model-C...
Now all of my life we have generally had plastic Christmas trees however we do have pine trees in Australia, in fact we once used our Wollemi Pine (http://www.wollemipine.com/index.php) one year though it was pretty small and could only take some tinsel.
But plastic trees do seem to be the norm here, I'm sure there are some who decorate 'Australian' trees but on the whole we have the same imagery as you guys – Santa, trees, reindeer etc
PS send me your mailing address so I can send you your Shatner book!!
Perhaps you'll think differently when you look upon: http://www.hallmark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servl...
Yeah we probably will
I like it!
Although I'm not sure I $15 like it. the kids would eat it anyway.
