The most awesome garage in the world - markers Lee Sargent

A while ago I did the illustration above, the most awesome garage in the world.  I stand by my choices in this piece, these are the three cars I would most love to have sitting in my backyard and I’m pretty awesome so I know this stuff.

Of course some of you felt that there weren’t enough bays in our awesome garage (one of you also made a groan worthy joke about the garage itself being fairly ordinary but the cars being awesome…).  So I’m going back into the pop culture auto industry and letting you guys nominate and ultimately vote on the next three cars to go into the awesome’st garage part two.

Now I’ve got some suggestions of my own to get you rolling:

  • The Gadget Mobile (car mode)
  • Any vehicle from MASK
  • The 60′s Batmobile
  • The Galileo shuttle craft from Star Trek (whatever, it would fit in a garage)
  • The A-Team van
  • The Star Car from The Last Starfighter
  • Light bike from Tron
  • KITT (though it would be boring to draw… shut up, don’t judge me)

Well that should have gotten you thinking and since I know you guys are all very clever and knowledgeable in the art of popular culture I expect some out of left field suggestions in the comments.  I would also love to see some new names in the comments, time to come out of the shadows and be embraced by the Quit Your Day Job community!

When I’ve got a healthy list I’ll cross off any I don’t think I’ll be able to draw (fair go)  and then offer the rest up for you to vote for in a poll!

Be a part of awesomeness, tell your readers and friends and that shady guy down the street who smells like wet carpet… actually don’t bother telling him.

Now speaking of awesomeness I had two awesome ideas today that made a little bit of stardust seep out of my left ear out of sheer bloody amazingness.  The rough pencil thumb guide is up at my Posterous site for the first idea and the second will take a little bit of time but involves two characters from the Goodies and Baddies set.

it's a preview of awesomeness

It’s going to be cool.

Get in on the ground floor, share the coolness with others.

Proclaim your commitment to the cool.

Arnold was cool, why don’t you want to be?

Mr Freeze is excited about my upcoming stuff!

    The Landspeeder from Star Wars

The first to come to mind is a landspeeder from Star Wars. I also think the Tron Light Bike would be cool. Back to the Star Wars well again for a speeder bike and a podracer.

Hmm… how about that lizard that Obi-Wan rode in Revenge of the Sith? I’m blanking on the name and too lazy to look it up.

And hey… no love for the Batman Begins batmobile?

You should have a door or two from Monster’s Inc. leaning against a wall, too. And maybe a StarGate or the Guardian of Forever.

Maybe a StarFury from Babylon 5.

And of course, Silver… Lone Ranger’s horse.

You’re gonna need a WIDE sheet of paper…

gonna sleep a night on this one.
    Is cool the new awesome?

  4. Arkonbey says:

I second the landspeeder and raise you a Landmaster from Damnation Alley. A toughie might be “The Classic” from All Of Sam Rami’s Films. I also think it’s your duty as an Aussie to draw The V8 Interceptor…

Jeff’s comment on the ‘wide sheet of paper’ got me thinking. How’s about you get an 11 x 17 sheet (or whatever the Australian version of ‘tabloid’ is), divide it into a large grid, then draw identical single garages. That would make a poster and a half, wouldn’t it? You could have some sort of contest based off of it.

The Starfury is cool, but doesn’t really fit, so now you have to do a spacefighter space-dock version ;)

I really like the idea actually and would be interested to talk contests – but probably not for a while. The original garage illustration is on that sized paper – A3 I was going to frame it but don’t have the right size.

LOL now I’m thinking of drawing a giant junk yard with all of these vehicles!

    • Jeff says:

Just want to lend some support for that idea. It is, dare I say it, awesome.

Btw… if he can fit a Star Trek shuttle, he can fit a Starfury. :)

What about that landspeeder thing from firefly. Or serenity itself (although a little big maybe)

    • Lee says:

      I’ve never drawn anything from Serenity I don’t think…

      That needs to be sorted.

Oh by the way I’ve got a title for that Indiana Jones Podcast.

(see what I did there, I left you with hope, whilst not locking anything in)

  6. Marita says:

What about the Metalicar from Supernatural? Although I suppose that might be as boring to draw as kit. Perhaps you could do it with the boot open and the anti demon symbols on the inside of the boot and all their gear showing.

    • Lee says:

Yeah that’s the only problem, if it’s just a car albeit a very cool car it will be harder to convey the point – but if the junkyard or giant garage comes off…

  7. MC says:

Stuntman Mike’s Car from Death Proof? A Bond Car? The Mystery Machine? Herbie the Love Bug? The Mach 5?

  8. Gemisht says:

I’d love to see KITT although it would be boring to draw I spose. And the van from the A team. And I love Jeff’s suggestion of a door from Monsters Inc. And not sure if its really up your alley or not, but how about something from the Mad Max films? Or the nuclear sub from On the Beach LOL, imagine a nuclear sub in the garage ?????

    • Lee says:

I’m getting a lot of national pride pressure for a Mad Max car but ultimately the voting will be up to you guys anyway :) KITT can look cool though, I’d just have to reverse park him.

  9. Sujoy says:

KITT is cool, but I donno how it wud stand out as a car which has an exterior character..

On the other hand, the latest Batmobile is awesome.

Anything from the Star Wars universe is gonna be awesome,

Final two suggestions: nebuchadnezzar and enterprise

but will they fit in a garage…may be this time u can do a world’s most awesome warehouse.. :P
