Dear Mr. Carpenter:
Final Notice: Big Trouble in Little China sequel
According to our records we have identified that despite repeated requests for a Big Trouble in Little China sequel you have chosen to ignore these requests for the afore-mentioned sequel and whilst you have supplied explanations via various interviews it should be noted that these reasons are not of an acceptable nature.
The “first film did not make enough money back to warrant a sequel, and would probably not be considered” argument is on the surface a seemingly valid one however when one considers additional revenue generated by home video (VHS) and DVD sales in addition to the ‘cult’ status of the film the earning potential for a well made sequel must at least make the project worth discussing further.
There are other potential avenues for the further adventures of Jack Burton to be considered as well, especially with the rise of original material being distributed through the internet.
Consequently, unless we receive a sequel or news of a sequel by the end of the month of September, we will have to take the unpleasant step of complaining through social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook and of course blogs. We would rather not be forced to do this since these avenues are usually complaint free and if several of us complain online it may tarnish your excellent reputation (we don’t discuss Ghosts of Mars… much).
To prevent us from taking the final step of tweeting this matter, could you please advise when the Big Trouble in Little China sequel will be made by the end of the month.
We urge you to please give this matter your full attention now, before it’s too late, and as a side note I think ‘More Trouble in Little China’ would be a perfectly acceptable title.
Sincerely,
Lee Sargent
Big Trouble in Little China fan

Nicely done. Have you considered the extreme step of an online petition? Their effectiveness has proven unmatched in the past.

Whoa now!!!
Let’s not get all hasty here, we don’t want to do or say things that can’t be taken back!
an online petition should only be used as a final measure if Mr Carpenter really refuses to budge.

LOL ok, back away from the petition…
It’s my endgame weapon.
Okay. I don’t want to be the toenail in your salad, but I must disagree with your assertion that the world needs a BTiLC sequel.
BTiLC is a fantastic film, fun and funny and it holds up pretty darn well after all of these years..
However, so was Raiders of the Lost Ark and look what they did to Indy last year, huh? Do we really want that to happen to Jake Burton? Of course we don’t

Ummm excuse me, I think you are forgetting that I live in a perfect world where sequels are wonderful and done for artistic purposes…
Considering that BTiLC began as a reworking of the script for Buckaroo Banzai vs. the World Crime League, may I point out that everyone who worked on BB signed on for a sequel in their contracts?
Actually that's a common misconception, the script that was written for BTiLC was originally going to be a western and the director of Buckaroo Banzai was brought in to rework the script which apparently he used to do a lot of.

Of course I expect that there was at least an influence there in the final script.
Cheers for dropping by!
