The Incredible Hulk walletSo quite a while ago my old boring wallet died, it wasn’t sudden, I knew it was happening for ages and the wallet hung in there to the very end.  But I knew that I had to call it and was now in the market for a new wallet.

Enter the Incredible Hulk wallet complete with shiny Hulk writing on one side and angry Hulk art on the other.

Tracey in a supreme act of self-control did not pass comment, however I did see her flinch.

I think I knew straight away that Hulk wallet and I weren’t destined for a long and fruitful relationship.  The first thing was that it had no coin pocket.  Look, even though I’m an adult I still deal with coin change, however after doing a short survey with other ‘men’ I discovered that many of them use the coin pocket in their pants and keep change well away from their wallets.

OK I could do that.

Second problem was that the wallet was quite small and when I put most of my various plastic cards within its plastic clear insert it became quite hard to close the wallet.

OK I can leave a couple of them at home.

It also came with one of those chain things that you attach to your pants to avoid pick pockets (I assume this is the purpose) which was the very first thing I removed.

Now I’m the first to admit that I am a man-child, a man-child who loves comic books but even I started to cringe when I would get that ‘look’ when taking the wallet out to pay for things.  I’m OK with that, I wear these shoes to work, so it was only a slight self consciousness.

Unfortunately after four months or so the glory that is Incredible Hulk the wallet just hasn’t worked out, the cards get stuck in the plastic insert, I’ve needed the cards that I’ve left out and the coin thing is really bugging me, although in fairness I think I will still continue to use my pockets for the change.

The Hulk wallet is now retired and I bought a Unit wallet which has lots of card slots, a coin pocket and no childish fun design on the outside.

As much as I wanted the Hulk to work out, it was doomed from the beginning.

Did you get that in a show bag or something? Good on you for giving it a go but that was never going to cut for long. Sad really because why bother making them so shitty. Even if the quality is low, the pockets and what not should still be useful.

LOL no I got mine from the friendly neighbourhood comic book shop. It’s actually not that badly made except that it has a pretty crappy plastic insert.

I think it is made off a kid’s sized wallet which is a FAIL

    it’s a liability when you’re on a mad spending spree ;)
I’ve got a simple leather (probably fake leather ) wallet with enough space for all my cards. But bills of 50€, even though I don’t carry them often, just don’t fit very well..I say it’s a conspiricy to make me spend them.

My ATM card still gets a little stuck in the new wallet, makes me look like a tight arse when going to pay for the bill :)

I am thinking what character I would have on a wallet… and I am having a hard time thinking of one.

I would like to get one like Samuel L. Jackson had in Pulp Fiction.

Come to think of it, I would get a Jackson-insired Nick Fury wallet… I will admit that. Sam Jackson + Eye Patch = Win.

  8. At the risk of sounding un-manly, I have to say that I really miss having a coin section in my wallet. As it is, I just stuff the coins in the note section and let them hang out with what little paper I have in there. Is that wrong?

I’m really loving having the coin pouch back – I generally only use it for gold coins and leave my shrapnel in my pocket.

You shouldn’t mix your coins and notes! That’s just off!
