I’ve been a fan of the Moleskine notebooks for a long time now, I probably like them a little too much because I’m always a little hesitant to draw in them or write in them as I know that I’ll want to hang on to them and so I only want things of note and worth to be contained.
Of course this is the completely wrong attitude and approach and fortunately I was given an opportunity to get over it.
I’ve been supplied with two blank Moleskine cahiers to customise and return to the Moleskine website Notebookco for inclusion in their Moleskine cover hacks project.
I completed the first one over the weekend:
I was completely unsure of what the colour of the cardboard would do to the colour of the markers and I’m really pleased with the end result, gives it a “dated” look that I may seek out again.
I’ll let you all know what the details are and how you might be able to get your hands on this custom Moleskine notebook when I find out!

These really turned out well! Nice job. I do like the colors and the ‘dated’ effect you mentioned. When you do a comic book that might be a look to shoot for.

I’ve been looking at brown paper and cardboard differently now! The cardboard does suck out the ink from the markers though – would churn through them a lot quicker.
But I do like that effect.
awesome!
Is each page going to have a narration box? “Soon…” “Meanwhile…” “In his secret lair…”
For some reason I’m reminded of They Might Be Giants’ song “Spider”.

I’ve only got the small notebook to do now but I will be using more narration boxes (and may steal some of those) – I was thinking of doing a female character cover though – especially Kite (though all those feathers are a nightmare) and definitely Madam Chill.
I don’t think I know the song – I’ll have to go check it out.
I réally really like that world conquer pic. Depicts evil scheming perfectly.
I’m pretty happy with the way it worked out – I’m trying to work out the poses for the second notebook
