This week was a very limited affair with very little coming out that I’m interested in.
The big one I wanted to grab is of course Batman and Robin #3 from Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely whom I have mentioned in the past regarding his artwork having to grow on me (which it did, in a big way!). I do have to say though that this officially gets the ‘ugliest cover’ prize for this week (click on the thumbnail to behold the ugliness).
I never thought I would get back into any Batman titles but here I am subscribing to at least three at this stage (Batman and Robin, Batgirl and Streets of Gotham). Of course if they were Marvel titles I would wait it out and get the trade collections like I do with Thor and Runaways.
I also pick up Previews magazine which I like because it just gives me a chance to see some stuff that I might not of encountered online all in one place. I actually really do enjoy leafing through these books looking for art that captures my eye.
I guess it is kinda silly but I also like how it is such a big thick magazine, I feel like I get my money’s worth out of it and there is such a great diverse range of art samples contained within.
Finally this week there’s a bit of a more expensive pick in the form of Darwyn Cooke’s The Hunter, which to be perfectly honest I know very little apart from the art is going to be great and the story is a crime noir book based on the work of Richard Stark. It’s a nice size and in hardcover and after enjoying The Missing Person so much at the Brisbane International Film Festival I’m looking forward to it. I have in recent times attempted to branch out in my reading (comic book wise) to non-capes books, when Tracey is done i want to read the Mouse Guard books I got her too.

As a side note too I am really waiting on them to sort out all the Dark Reign shenanigans so I can start buying Avengers again.
So did you visit your friendly neighbourhood comic book shop this week? What did you get?
