I really loved the look on the heroes face in the pencil sketch for this piece and whilst he changed a little bit I’m still pretty happy with the overall feel of this one.  He has a classic superhero feel to him, bright colours, generally cheery and he can sit wherever he wants to have his morning cappuccino.

Coffee and capes - part III - cappuccino - acrylics - Lee Sargent

This is the final piece for this collection, for now, coffee and capes is something I would like to explore further.

I agree this one has more of the classic look. He likes his job. He’s happy. This is my favorite of the three.

The Shazam likeness actually didn’t present itself until the very end when I realised that in trying to avoid a certain super man’s colours that I had gone down the other DC heavy hitter path.

The A is open for interpretation, you get to choose this guy’s back story!

Starbucks is indeed the ‘inspiration’ behind the coffee cups, the next time I do a series though I may try and include travel mugs.

I think this is my favorite so far. Mostly because it has a lot of story behind it. The cape is really nice as well; you’re getting a lot of good mileage out of local color.

Though, because I’m one of those kind of people who are easily inspired by others’ work and want to make it better as though I was doing it, can I have your permission to do a sketch of what your piece made me think of?

Please, you have permission, just let me see what you come up with!

I love that this has people asking questions about the story or at least thinking about what the story could be. That’s what I wanted to do with the Goodies and Baddies set!
