I posted this picture on my Posterous blog that I only recently resurrected. I’ve been posting the inkwork on there prior to the colour pieces showing up over here.
When I posted this picture late last night I hadn’t coloured it yet and was thinking of trying out some water colours on there mixed with markers. The end result was awful.
It was a bad mix of cheap water colours, wrong paper and new water pen, with a dash of not knowing what I want to do with it.
But I’m OK with it because if I didn’t experiment then I wouldn’t know what works and what doesn’t and in this case I now know not to try that again (like that anyway).
I may still ‘experiment’ with this image using digital colour, it’s one of those really unfamiliar zones that I know I eventually have to look at but I’m really resistant even though I’ve got most of the equipment.
I will however be drawing more of Mr Blue Beetle, he’s a lot of fun to draw.

As Edison once said when asked what it was like to have 10,000 failed inventions, “I haven’t failed 10,000 times, I’ve successfully found 10,000 ways that don’t work.

Wow thank you Margaret, that was very well said and I really appreciate it.
Margaret’s right!
If you don’t fail, you can’t learn.
Not that it doesn’t hurt initially…
