This is the first in a series where I will be drawing the complete set (as best as I can work it out) of Iron Man armours.  Starting with of course one of my favourite suits of armour, the Mark 1.

As I mentioned in my tweet, this definitely has come out really good. I love the partial wet feel to the iron suit and the color shading of the suit as a whole.

    Gr8 job Lee!!

      Cheers Sujoy!

Be sure to retweet for me :P

And come back next week for the Mark 2 and a whole different colour scheme!

Good stuff indeed. The colors really add something extra here. Excellent work.

      Thanks Dan!

I liked it in the black and white (and of course scanned in that version to keep a copy of it!) and for a couple of seconds considered doing black and white for the series – however I knew I wanted the fire in there and it looks so much better in colour. I’m glad I stuck with the colour as it does add so much to the feel.

Oh and look forward to a Blue Beetle colour pic coming sometime in the very near future.

very, very nice work overall. The falling debris is well done as are the small touches like the cinders floating up above the flames.

The sky, however, feels less considered than the other parts, especially compared to the water (which is the most subtly rendered thing you’ve done so far)

By the looks of it, he should have been Stainless Steel Man. He’s got a few hours with a wire brush ahead of him…

Thanks Arkonbey, especially for noticing the cinders!! I hear what you’re saying about the sky (and you are 100% right), on reflection it should be a lot darker and the light coming of the fire should have been more dramatic.

I can’t wait to look back in the months to come as I work my way through the armours and see the difference especially in the settings which are something I really want to develop more effectively.

I am amazed that this armour only served for two or three issues at the very start because he moves to the Mark 2 armour really quickly!

he doesn’t look to happy about the explosion..or about the water haha.
I really like the paspartout, it brings out the drawing very well.
