I'm having enough trouble finding the time to check them out myself!

Listener participation is always welcomed but never expected.

I'm afraid it's been far too long since I've seen the first three movies (all in cinema). The same goes for the old cartoons. And to top it off I got exactly one TMTN comicbook and the only thing I can remember about it at the moment (not at home now) is that there was a monster with a particularly bad breath featured in it.
I won't be able to check all 3 movies (or even one) out before sunday, so I'll just sit back and enjoy the podcast this week (almost done listening to this week's pc).

Arjan’s last blog post..Walchsee: training and having fun

I was an original TPB reader myself so I remember Ninja Turtles as the first 'kid friendly' adaptation of something. There was this and The Real Ghostbusters, actually I think the Ghostbusters was the first then.

I think there was a slight pang of disappointment or confusion over the change but then I was the exact right age to love the cartoon and did. But I can certainly see your point, the first movie felt like a slight return to the original tone, but certainly not with the scifi aspect of the comic books.

Even the comic books were a finite thing, as soon as they crossed over with Cerebus the Aardvark I kind of lost focus there (art was really good though - I think that was the third book as I don't recall the fourth).

The 2007 film version was quite good and certainly captured more of the tone.

There, I made up for you, call me loquacious Lee. ;)

As an owner of the first 4 original TPBs since 1987, I'll only say:

Original comics = yeah!
movies = meh
cartoons = bleh!

How remarkably un-loquacious of me!

arkonbey’s last blog post..my plan is underway

Be careful of last week's because it is a repeat of the week before, I dunno why, this week it will work perfectly :)

It is weird seeing kids get into toys that I was into as a kid.

My partner and I threw in the original 1990 movie a couple of years ago and were both shocked and delighted to discover that we both could almost word for word recite the dialogue, despite not having seen it for nearly 10 years. Classic movie. Elias Koteas as Casey Jones - back when he still had hair - was HOT. And most people I mention it to agree that Raphael was the best turtle - something about the tortured hero/bad boy thing, I guess :)
