Talking movie deaths – a QYDJ podcast

closeOriginally posted on 2 years 11 months 17 days. This blog is no longer being updated - you should come check out my new blog: Too Short To Be A Storm Trooper

It’s a new week and therefore a new podcast!  I’ve dumped the whole podcat bit as it was too hard to explain it all the time and I didn’t really have a good story to go with it anyway.

Big thanks go out to Dan and Matt for their contributions this week, much appreciated and enjoyed as always.

Also Arjan and Bettina too who emailed me their thoughts.

I think I’ve fixed the iTunes feed although time will tell how ‘fixed’ it is, but you can of course subscribe and tell your friends to subscribe!!!

Speaking of telling your friends, if you are on Twitter then I have the Twitter button to retweet the podcast and I’ll be appreciating anyone who does so!

*Update: the iTunes feed is playing last week’s as this week’s podcast and ignoring this week’s actual podcast.  I’m confident come next week all will be fixed in the meantime – get your fix right here!

Now on to the podcast:

Download the mp3 to enjoy on the train!

  1. You probably allready know this, but the podcast on itunes labled movie deaths is actually last weeks podcast. At least on my computer (which granted has been acting very funnily recently)

    Dan’s last blog post..Mmmm… radishy

    • Sigh.

I know, I don’t think there is any way to fix this in iTunes at this stage, I’m just going to have to wear it and deal with it for next week’s podcast. The iTunes thing is starting to turn out to be quite the headache to be honest.

    • I got what you were saying, I think. Oh well it’s clarified now anyway.

I was really close to talking Robocop next week until I saw you mentioned him and I thought I’d break it up a little.

  2. A little bit gory, yup that’s me! lol I do worry sometimes that I’m not geeky enough for this forum :P hehe

Yes the spaceballs parody from aliens is a crack up! And yes the Jurassic Park lawyer is Gennaro -- we do know it :P Loving that dutch expression about being torn from the toilet -- I must get in touch with my dutch heritage!! lmao

You know Matt sounds so laid back that I’m sure time must run slower while he speaks (no insult intended) I could just imagine him as a dog shift radio announcer.

Thankyou for avoiding the Arnie impersonations lol and you’ve just reminded me of a whole other catagory of movie deaths! Like the terrorist dude falling off the tower in Die Hard. I get into trouble sometimes for repeating yippeekiyay mf! Oh yes! The decapitation in Speed! Wonderful (am I sounding gory again?) I love the death quips in action movies! Nicholas Cage is another one that gets some reasonable action movie quips in too.

I didn’t even get to Freddy’s handiwork -- I have to agree with the fantastical nature of them so could never get what the big deal was -- like the kid who was sucked into his water bed to drown. That kind of shit couldn’t happen in real life. That said Halloween and Friday 13th weren’t my cup of tea. I’m not big on horror/slasher type films. I didn’t mind the Scream films either but those and Elm St would be the only ones of that sort of genre that I didn’t mind.

Ninja Turtles…….. lol you are talking my vintage!

Speaking of movie quips I found this -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6MVKnU-UJA&feature=player_embedded

    Enjoy!

Mistress B’s last blog post..The Coven.

    • Arjan had mentioned that saying to me once before so it wasn’t new to me but I’ve yet to actually use it in conversation.

I like how we have a cool multicultural thing going on with Matt and Dan and yes I think Matt should be pulling in some late night radio gigs!

I thought about Die Hard’s specifically the sequence where John sends the terrorist back to Hans with ‘Now I have a machine gun… Ho…Ho…Ho’ written on his chest.

Are you thinking the Cage line ‘put the bunny back in the box’? :)

I always loved the waterbed death simply because I wanted to know what the police would have made of it -- imagine having to investigate that!

Ninja Turtles seems to have transcended generations.

  3. See, the thing you have to remember about me is before Lee gets my segments, I get to go through them and tighten them up… because I talk even slower than it appears. I am a man who, when presenting something in this format, takes some rather noticeable pauses. I don’t say um that much, so I don’t have to take those out, but I have been known to take 45 seconds worth of dead air, breaths and such out of 3 recorded minutes.
